Dua at end of quran.
Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,
As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.
(May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)
One of our brothers/sisters has asked
this question:
ASSALAMUALAIKUM,
THANK
YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR ALL ANSWERS,
I
HAVE QUESTION,
1) IN
EVERY QURAN AT END OF IT WE FIND ONE BIG DUA, WHAT IS SIGNIFICANCE IF
IT, IN THE LIGHT QURAN AND SAHIH HADITHS.
IS IT
COMPULASORY TO READ IT AT THE END OF QURAN.
AND
SECONDLY CAN YOU FORWARD ME THE TRANSLATION OF THE SAME DUA .
2) IN
INDIA IN THE MONTH OF RAMDHAN WE USE TO COMPLETE ONE QURAN AND AT THE END OF IT
THE IMAM SAYS DUA, IN WHICH HE SAYS WHAT EVER HAS READ (QURAN) THE SAWAB
FOR THOSE WHO ARE PRESENT ( WHO HEARD THIS QURAN ) AND SAWAB FOR DEAD ALSO
( LIKE THOSE WHO ARE NOT WITH US TODAY MEANS DEAD ONE ), AND IF
I SAY TO IMAM FOR MY GRANDFATHER OR GRANDMOTHER WHO ARE NOT WITH US (DEAD)
.THEN IMAM ADDS NAME AND SAY FOR SO AND SO GRAND FATHER OR GRAND
MOTHER
SO MY
QUESTION IS DOES THIS DUA IS CORRECT AND CAN SUCH SAWAB IS ADD TO THOSE WHO ARE
NOT WITH US (DEAD )
IT
SOUNDS ME MORE OR LESS LIKE QURAN KHAWANI
WHAT
IS THE BEST DUA ONE CAN SAY FOR THOSE WHO PASSED AWAY

Answer:
Dua at end of quran
In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His
help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide,
and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear
witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear
witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His
Messengers.

If one does any good or lawful deed or any rite of worship
with the intention to earn the Pleasure and Good Will of their Lord, it is a
preferred Sunnah that one start the deed in the Blessed Name of the Lord and
after one has completed the act, one Praise and Thank Allah Subhanah, and in
all humility, awe, fear and hope beseech their Lord Most Gracious to accept
their worship, forgive them the errors and the shortcomings they might have
committed in fulfilling the act, and bestow upon them its due and full rewards.
Although it is more than probable that the Messenger of
Allah (saws) would have made supplications after reciting the full Quran for
himself and the Ummah, to the best of our knowledge there is no record in the
authentic and established Sunnah whereby a specific ‘dua’ or supplication is
related from the Prophet (saws) for that purpose.
The long ‘dua’ or supplication one finds at the end of
some copies of the Glorious Quran might be one complied by the publishers or
the translators from the various other ‘masnoon’ supplications of the Prophet
(saws), or it may even be a supplication which they may have documented
themselves….Allah Alone Knows Best.
Thus regardless of whether one recites a passage from the
Glorious Quran, or one is fortunate enough to recite the whole of the Glorious
Quran….it would be well within the etiquettes of Sunnah for the believers to
make supplications for themselves, their loved ones, and the believing Ummah in
general.
If after recitation of a passage or the whole Quran one
wishes to recite the supplication found at the end of the book, that is fine
and acceptable; and if one wishes to make supplications in one’s own words and
in one’s own language, that too would be fine and acceptable to the Lord, Insha
Allah.
Your
Question: …..SO MY QUESTION IS DOES THIS DUA IS CORRECT AND CAN SUCH SAWAB IS
ADD TO THOSE WHO ARE NOT WITH US (DEAD )
IT
SOUNDS ME MORE OR LESS LIKE QURAN KHAWANI
There is absolutely no doubt that the Glorious Quran are
the Very Words of the Lord Most Majestic, Most Supreme, Most High, Most
Exalted….those who take the effort to recite it, those who take the effort to
listen to its recitation, those who obey and follow its Guidance and its
Commandments…..all of them will receive their due and full rewards from their
Lord Most Generous, Most Bounteous for their worship.
But if one did not take the effort to attend or listen to
its recitation, obviously such a person would not be able to share in those
rewards.
Just as one cannot commit an evil deed and transfer its
sin or its penalty to another, under normal circumstances, one cannot do a good
deed and transfer its rewards to another, regardless of whether the intended
recipient is dead or alive!
There is absolutely no harm if the ‘imaam’ makes
supplications for the dead amongst the believers in his dua, but to transfer
the reward of his efforts or his recitation to the account of the deceased
would definitely not be possible!
Your
Question: WHAT IS THE BEST DUA ONE CAN SAY FOR THOSE WHO PASSED AWAY
Here are some of the supplications which the Messenger of
Allah (saws) made for the deceased amongst the believers:
1. Abu
Hurairah said: ‘The Prophet (saws) prayed in one of the funeral prayers:
‘Allahumma anta Rubbuha wa ant khalaqtaha wa anta razaqtaha wa ant hadaytaha
lil lslam wa anta qabadata ruha-ha wa anta alamu bisirriha wa 'alaniyatiha.
Ji'nashuf'ala-hafaghfir laha zanbaha"
(Oh Allah ! You are
her Sustainer, You are her Creator, You provided her with sustenance, guided
her to Islam, caused her to die, and You best know her secret and public life.
We plead to You on her behalf to forgive her her sins.)
2. Wa'ilah
ibn al-Asqa reported: "The Prophet (saws) led us in a funeral prayer for a
man from among the Muslims. I heard him saying: ‘Allahumma inna fulana ibna
fulan fi dhimatika wa habla jawaraka, fa-qihu min fitnatal qabri wa adhabin nar
wa anta ahlal wafa' wal haq, allahumma faghfirlahu war-rahmhufa innaka antal
ghafurur Raheem.’ Related by Ahmad and Abu Dawood.
(O Allah! So-and-so,
son of so-and-so, is under Your protection and Mercy, so protect him from the
trials of the grave, and the torture of Hell Fire. You are the Guardian of the
truthful and the faithful. OAllah!
Forgive him and be merciful to him, as You are the Most Merciful, Most
Forgiving.)
3. Awf
ibn Malik reported: "I heard the Prophet (saws) while offering a funeral
Related by Muslim.
(O Allah! Forgive
him, have Mercy on him, pardon him, heal him, be generous to him, cause his
entrance to be wide and comfortable, wash him with the most pure and clean
water, and purify him from sins as a white garment is washed clean of dirt.
Give him in exchange a home better than his home (on earth) and a family better
than his family, and a wife better than his wife, and protect him from the
trial of the grave and the torture of Hell Fire.)
4. It
is reported from Abu Hurairah that the Prophet (saws) offered a funeral prayer
and said: ‘Allahummaghfir lihayatina wa mayatina wa saghirina wa kahirina wa
dhakirina wa unthana. Allahumma man ahyatahu minna fa-ahyahu 'alal Islam wa man
tawafthu minna fa-tawafthu 'ala iman. Allahumma la tahrimna ajrahu wa la
tudalana ba'dahu.’ Related by Ahmad.
(O Allah! Forgive
our living, our dead, our young, our old, our males and our females, those of
us who are present, and those who are absent. O Allah! Whomsoever among us You
keep to live, make him to live in Islam, and whomsoever You cause to die, let
him die in faith. O Allah! Do not deprive us of our reward for (supplicating
for) him, and cause us not to go astray after him.)
Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only
due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me
alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is
the Only Source of Strength.

well wisher in Islam,
Burhan
