In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask
for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever
He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that
there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that
Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.
If rage has overtaken the good senses of one’s husband,
and in his rage, (Allah forbid) the husband lays his hands upon his innocent
wife…..the wife in Islam has the following lawful options:
- If
the wife believes that this was a one-off incident, and rage had overtaken
the otherwise good sense of her husband; and when the rage cools down the
husband is sensible enough to differentiate the truth from the
falsehood…..and the wife can bring herself to forgive her husband for his
lapse in justice….it would be prudent for the wife to forgive her husband
his fault and save her marriage; seeking the reward for her patience and
forbearance from Allah Subhanah in the Hereafter.
- But
if the wife sincerely believes that this would or has become a recurring
problem, and her husband is unjust and abusive towards her without
right…..she is well within her rights in Islam to seek a permanent
separation from such an evil person by initiating a divorce proceedings
against him, and there would be absolutely no blame or sin upon her.
Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to
Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only
Source of Strength.
Your brother and
well wisher in Islam,
Burhan
