One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:

I want to convence one of my Christians friends about Islam. Can you please provide me some basis questions regarding Christians and Bible.

Can you please tell me why people said that Bible is changed and how can we prove it.

Answer:

Bible changed

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one (no idol, no person, no grave, no prophet, no imam, no dai, nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Dear and Beloved Brother, it is not the ‘people’ who say that the Divine Scriptures that were revealed by Allah before the Quran have been changed; it is none other than the Lord All-Mighty Who Declares in His Last and Final Testament of the Quran that the People of the Book intentionally changed the words and forgot a good part of the Divine Message of their Scriptures!

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 5 Surah Maidah verses 13-15:

13 But because of their (The Children of Israel’s) breach of their Covenant We cursed them and made their hearts grow hard: they change the words from their (right) places and forget a good part of the Message that was sent them, nor wilt thou cease to find them barring a few ever bent on (new) deceits: but forgive them and overlook (their misdeeds): for Allah loveth those who are kind.

14 From those too who call themselves Christians We did take a Covenant but they forgot a good part of the Message that was sent them: so We estranged them with enmity and hatred between the one and the other to the Day of Judgment. And soon will Allah show them what it is they have done.

15 O People of the Book! There hath come to you Our Messenger (Mohamed (saws)) revealing to you much that ye used to hide in the Book and passing over much : There hath come to you from Allah a (new) Light and a perspicuous Book (The Al-Quran).

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 3 Surah Ale-Imran verse 78:
78 There is among them (The People of the Book) a section who distort the (Divine) Book with their tongues; (as they read) you would think it is a part of the Book but it is no part of the Book; and they say "That is from Allah" but it is not from Allah: it is they who tell a lie against Allah and (well) they know it!

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 10 Surah Yunus verses 68-70:

68 They (The Christians) say "Allah hath begotten a son!" Glory be to Him! He is The Self-Sufficient! His are all things in the heavens and on earth! No warrant have ye for this! Say ye about Allah what ye know not?

69 Say: "Those who invent a lie against Allah will never prosper."

70 A little enjoyment in this world, and then to Us will be their return. Then shall We make them taste the severest Penalty for their blasphemies.

The original Revelations of the ‘Injeel’ or the Gospel which was revealed in Truth by Allah upon Prophet Isa (a.s.) has been destroyed; and what our Christian brethren claim as the Bible today, is no more than a collection of some distorted chapters from the Old Testament, and four unauthentic records of the life of Prophet Isa (a.s.) according to St. Luke, St. Mathew, St. John and St. Mark; but surprisingly not one Gospel ‘according’ to Prophet Jesus (a.s.) himself! They attribute the Gospel to their four saints themselves, and then claim it is the Word of God!!!

If one asks even the best of the Christian scholars, they themselves will testify that the Original Divine Revelation revealed by Allah upon Prophet Isa (a.s.) has been destroyed, and the Bible they have amongst them is neither the original Divine Revelation, nor in the language it was originally revealed! That is why each of the numerous sects amongst the Christian faith have their own version of the Bible, like the Orthodox Version, the Roman Catholic Version, the King James Version (which itself apparently have more than 16 editions!), the New International Version, etc. etc.!

A simple way to clarify this point is to quote any passage from the ‘Bible’ to any Christian scholar, and the first thing ‘he’ will ask you is ‘which version of the Bible are you quoting from?’!!!

Your Question: He once said that there are many contradictions in Islaam

The first thing to understand and understand it well is that there are absolutely no contradictions in the Holy Quran, as declared by Allah Himself in the following verse:

Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 4 Surah Nisaa verse 82:

Do they not ponder over the Quran? Had it been from any other than Allah, surely there would have been many contradictions in it.

It is a challenge made by none other than the Lord Most High in His Glorious Quran almost 1400+ years ago and still stands unchallenged today, that if anyone can find even a single contradiction in this Glorious and Divine Message, then this Glorious Book could not have been the Words of the Creator!

If our Christian brethren even dare to mention or challenge the unparalleled uniformity of the Glorious Quran in any way whatsoever, simply ask them regarding the absolutely clear contradictions all over their Bible! If our respected Christian brethren wants to take ‘contradiction’ as the criteria between the Truth and falsehood (which if he is truly a Christian scholar, he would never do because the Bible has been proven to contain hundreds of contradictions!); take up the challenge with him and we will provide you with the contradicting quotations of the Bible which he would never be able to deny!

Here are a few blatant contradictions from the Bible:

Contradiction example 1:

And again the anger of the Lord was kindled against Israel, and He moved David against them to say: ‘Go, number Israel and Judah’ (Bible: II Samuel 24)

And Satan stood up against Israel, and provoked David to number Israel. (Bible: I Chronicles 21)

• Was it the Lord who provoked David, or was it the Satan?

Contradiction example 2:

So Gad came to David and told him and said unto him, ‘shall Seven Years of famine come unto thee in thy land? Or wilt thou flee three months before thine enemies, while they pursue thee? (Bible: II Samuel 24:13)

11. So Gad came to David and said unto him, thus saith the Lord, ‘choose thee:

12. Either Three Years famine; or three months to be destroyed before thy foes, while that the sword of thine enemies overtaketh thee. ((Bible:I Chronicles 21:11-12)

• Was it Seven Years or Three Years?

Contradiction example 3:

Jehoiachin was Eight Years old when he began to reign, and he reigned three months and ten days in Jerusalem; and he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord. (Bible: II Chronicles 36)

Jehoiachin was Eighteen Years old when he began to reign, and he reigned in Jerusalem three months. And his mother’s name was Nehushta, the daughter of Elnathan of Jerusalem. (Bible: II Kings 24)

• Was Jehoiachin Eight or Eighteen years old when he began to reign?

Contradiction example 4:

And Solomon had Four Thousand stalls for horses and chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen whom he bestowed in the chariot cities and with the King at Jerusalem. (Bible: II Chronicles 9:25)

And Solomon had Forty Thousand stalls of horses for his chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen. (Bible: I Kings 4:26)

• Did Solomon have Four thousand or Forty thousand stalls?

I can go on an on with the contradictions of the presently available Bible, which our brethren claim to be the words of God; when only one needs to find ONE error or contradiction to determine whether it is indeed the Word of God or not!

Your Question: I want to convence one of my Christians friends about Islam.

Beloved brother in Islam, if one wants to prove something is untrue or fake, the best way to prove its falsehood is to present the truth; and the falsehood will be disappear by itself, for it is in the very nature of falsehood to disappear when confronted with the truth!

Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 17 Surah Bani Israel verse 81:

And declare, “The Truth has come and falsehood has vanished. And falsehood is a thing that must by its nature, vanish!”

Beloved brother, if you truly wish to invite your Christian brother to the Truth of Al-Islam, in our humble experience it would be best not to spend on your energy in proving their holy book as false or untrue….but rather spend your energy and time in presenting the Truth of the Al-Quran to your friend in the best possible manner. If your friend is indeed seeking the Truth, and if Allah Wills and Helps him in his search, one reading of the Glorious Quran would be more than enough for the brother to determine the Truth from all the other falsehoods!

If after your very best efforts your Christian friend still insists on believing in the deen he was born in, tell him plainly what Allah Subhanah has Commanded the believers to say to our Christian (or Jewish) brethren:

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 3 Surah Ale-Imraan verse 64:

64 Say: "O people of the Book! Come to common terms as between us and you: that we worship none but Allah; that we associate no partners with Him; that we erect not from among ourselves lords and patrons other than Allah." If then they turn back say: "Bear witness that we (at least) are Muslims (bowing to Allah's will)."

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.
