Answer:
Were we born before this life?
In the
name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness.
Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray,
none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one (no idol, no
person, no grave, no prophet, no imam,
no dai, nobody!) worthy of
worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad(saws) is His
slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.
As far as
our physical life and presence on this earth is concerned, the Glorious Quran
is absolutely clear that we were nothing and Allah Subhanah gave us life. Thus if your query is if we were born on
earth before, or if there is a concept of rebirth in Islam, etc.; then the
answer, in light of the clear guidance of the Quran and Sunnah is an Absolute
NO.
We have
been given by Allah Subhanah this first and only life to live a pre-determined
time on earth, and on this earth we will die; and we will be given life again
by the All-Mighty on the Day of Resurrection never to die again.
Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 19 Surah Maryam verse 9: Thy
Lord saith `That is easy for Me: I did indeed create thee before when thou
hadst been nothing!' "
Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 2 Surah Baqarah verse 28: How can ye (O disbelievers) reject faith in Allah? Seeing that ye were without life and He gave
you life; then will He cause you to die and will again bring you to life; and
to Him will ye return.
Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 23 Surah Muminoon verses 12-16:
12 Man We did create from a quintessence (of clay);
13 Then We placed him as (a drop of) sperm in a place of rest firmly
fixed;
14 Then We made the sperm into a clot of congealed blood; then of that
clot We made a (foetus) lump; then We made out of that lump bones and clothed
the bones with flesh; then We developed out of it another creature: so blessed
be Allah the Best to create!
15 After that at length ye will die.
16 Again on the Day of Judgment will ye be raised up.
Thus the
Islamic concept and belief is that we have been given this short period of one
life as a test to do deeds; and only in the Hereafter will the results of our
test be declared in the Presence and Majesty of the Lord of the Worlds. The righteous will be honored in the
Hereafter with His Mercy and Grace and the eternal Gardens of Bliss, and the
evil ones will deserve His Wrath and His Anger and the everlasting torture of
Hell Fire.
Whatever
written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allahs Assistance and Guidance,
and whatever of error is of me. Allah
Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.
Your Brother in Islam,
Burhan
