Why non muslim cannot go to Makkah

Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,

As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.  (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)

One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:

If the Kaaba is for everyone, then why are non-muslims not allowed in Mecca ?

(There may be some grammatical and spelling errors in the above statement. The forum does not change anything from questions, comments and statements received from our readers for circulation in confidentiality.)

Answer:

Why non muslim cannot go to Makkah

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His  forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one (no idol, no person, no grave, no prophet, no imam, no dai, nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad(saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 9 Surah Taubah verse 28:

O you who have believed! The ‘mushriks’ are unclean; so let them not approach the Sacred Mosque after this year (9th Hijri). If you fear poverty, Allah will enrich you out of His Bounty if He Wills; for Allah is All Knowing, All Wise.

To disallow all non-muslim to enter the Sacred Precincts of the Holy Mosque in Makkah is a direct command of Allah Subhanah to the believers. Allah Subhanah declares that the ‘mushriks’ are unclean, therefore they should not be allowed to approach the Sacred Mosque at Makkah.

The above command of Allah Subhanah was revealed in the Holy Quran in the 9th year after Hijrah or Migration; and since that time, the believers have been duty bound to Allah Subhanah, and not allowed the non-believers to approach the Sacred Mosque in Makkah.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your Brother in Islam,

Burhan
