One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:

In this holy month of Ramadan,  what could be the best duas and dikrs for a Muslim to be followed?

(There may be some grammatical and spelling errors in the above statement. The forum does not change anything from questions, comments and statements received from our readers for circulation in confidentiality.)

Answer:

Best dua dhikr in Ramadan

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

If truth be told sister, throughout the year and especially in the blessed month of Ramadan, the epitome of ‘dhikr’ would be to recite the Glorious Quran as much as one can, or is easy for them……other than the recitation of the Glorious Quran, all other forms of worship like prayers, fasts, sacrifice, supplications, exaltations, glorifications, pilgrimage, etc. are all amongst the forms of Dhikr or Remembrance of Allah Subhanah.

Although all the supplications made by the Messenger of Allah (saws) and related in his authentic Sunnah are best and invaluable, if one were to choose the ‘best’ of the best, then it would be this one comprehensive supplication which the Messenger of Allah (saws) recited frequently:

Hadrat Aishah (r.a.) says that the Prophet (saws) loved the short but comprehensive, meaningful supplications, more than others. Hadrat Anas ibn Malik (r.a.) reported that the Prophet (saws) frequently prayed, "Rabbana atena fid dunya hasana, wa fil aakherate hasana, wa kena adhaab an-Naar” (O Allah, give the good of this world, and the good of the life hereafter, and save us from the punishment of the fire.)

Another beautiful supplication which the Prophet (saws) taught his beloved wife Hadrat Aisha (r.a.) to recite on the blessed night of ‘Layla tul Qadr’ in Ramadan is:

Aishah (r.a.) said: "I asked the Messenger of Allah (saws),: 'O Messenger of Allah (saws), if I know what night is the Night of Qadr, what should I say during it?' He (saws) said: 'Say: “Allah humma Innaka Afuwan, Tohibbul Afwa, Fahfo anna. (O Allah, You are The Pardoner, and You love to pardon, so pardon me.)"

Amongst the phrases of ‘Dhikr’ or Remembrance made by the Messenger of Allah (saws) if one were to choose the ‘best’ of the best, it would be this one:

Al-Tirmidhi Hadith 2598 Narrated by Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-'As

The Prophet (saws) said, "The best ‘dhikr’ is the one on the day of Arafah, and the best thing which I and the Prophets before me have said is, 'Laa ilaha illalaaho, Wahdahu laa shareeka lahu, Lahul Mulk, wa lahul Hamd, wa ala kulle shayyin Qadeer.’ (There is no god but Allah, Alone, Who has no partner; to Him Alone belongs the Dominion, to Him Alone belongs all Praise; and He Alone has Power over all things.)”

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.
