One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:

Assalamo Alikum,

My question is "on the day of judgment the punishment or reward will be given to the soul or this elementary body or both? Please answer in the light of Noble Qur'ân and Hadeeth"

Answer:

Rewards punishment in Hereafter soul or physical body

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 8 Surah Anfaal verses 50-51:

50 If thou couldst (only) see when the Angels take the souls of the disbelievers (at death); (how) they smite their faces and their backs (saying): "Taste the penalty of the Blazing Fire.

51 Because of (the deeds) which your (own) hands sent forth: for Allah is never unjust to His servants

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 47 Surah Muhammad verses 27-28:

27 But how (will it be) when the Angels take their (the disbeliever’s) souls at death, and smite their faces and their backs?

28 This because they followed that which called forth the Wrath of Allah and they hated Allah's Good Pleasure; so He made their deeds of no effect.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 22 Surah Hajj verses 19-22:

19 …… but those who deny (their Lord) for them will be cut out a garment of Fire: over their heads will be poured out boiling water.

20 With it will be scalded what is within their bodies as well as (their) skins.

21 In addition there will be maces of iron (to punish) them.

22 Every time they wish to get away therefrom from anguish they will be forced back therein and (it will be said) "Taste ye the Penalty of Burning!"

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 4 Surah Nisaa verse 56:

56 Those who reject Our Signs We shall soon cast into the Fire: as often as their skins are roasted through, We shall change them for fresh skins that they may taste the penalty: for Allah is Exalted in Power Wise.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 36 Surah Yaa Seen verses 63-65:

63 "This is the Hell of which ye were (repeatedly) warned!

64 Embrace ye the (Fire) this Day for that ye (persistently) rejected (Truth)."

65 That Day shall We set a seal on their mouths. But their hands will speak to Us and their feet bear witness to all that they did.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 24 Surah Noor verses 23-25:

23 Those who slander chaste women indiscreet but believing are cursed in this life and in the Hereafter: for them is a Grievous Penalty

24 On the Day when their tongues their hands and their feet will bear witness against them as to their actions.

25 On that Day Allah will pay them back (all) their just dues and they will realize that Allah is the (very) Truth that makes all things manifest.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 25 Surah Furqaan verses 26-27:

26 That Day the Dominion as of Right and Truth shall be (wholly) for (Allah) Most Merciful: it will be a Day of dire difficulty for the disbelievers.

27 The Day that the wrongdoer will bite at his hands He will say "Oh! Would that I had taken a (straight) path with the Messengers!

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 56 Surah Waqiah verses 52-56:

52 "Ye will surely taste of the Tree of Zaqqum.

53 Then will ye fill your insides (bellies) therewith

54 And drink boiling water on top of it:

55 Indeed ye shall drink like diseased camels raging with thirst!

56 Such will be their entertainment on the Day of Requital!”

In light of the above quoted Guidance of the Glorious Quran it would be safe to assume that the punishment on the Day of Judgment will be for both: the physical body as well as the soul.

We seek refuge in Allah Subhanah from His Wrath, His Anger, His Accounting, and His Punishments, and the torment of the Hell Fire…..O our Lord, the Most Merciful of all those who show mercy, envelope us in your Sublime and Infinite Mercy, forgive us our shortcomings and our sins, and save those who have believed in you and your Messenger (saws) from the unbearable torment of the Hell Fire!

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 3 Surah Ale-Imraan verses 191-194:

191 Men who celebrate the praises of Allah standing sitting and lying down on their sides and contemplate the (wonders of) creation in the heavens and the earth (with the thought): "O Our Lord! Not for naught hast thou created (all) this! Glory to Thee! Give us salvation from the penalty of the Fire.

192 O Our Lord! Any whom Thou dost admit to the Fire, truly Thou coverest with shame; and never will wrong-doers find any helpers!.

193 O Our Lord! We have heard the call of one calling (us) to faith `Believe ye in the Lord' and we have believed. O Our Lord! Forgive us our sins, blot out from us our iniquities, and take to Thyself our souls in the company of the righteous.

194 O Our Lord! Grant us what Thou didst promise unto us through Thine Messengers, and save us from shame on the Day of Judgment: for thou never breakest Thy Promise."

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your brother and well wisher in Islam,

Burhan
