Patience and palace in paradise.

Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,

As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh. (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)

One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:

as salam alikum,

dear brother ,

i live is saudi arabia, my mother was sick and doctor confirmed she is serious , i went to india to visit my mother , by the time i arrived india my mother was in hospital and she died after 2 hour after my arrival. she did not see me nor speak to me as she was in coma. but my mother was aware i was coming to india on emergency leave. i was late of 8 hours , otherwise my mother would have seen me and speak to me.

as the doctor confirmed she is dead i proclaimed "INNA LILLAHI WA INNA ILAHI RAJIOON" the same time.

my question is what is the reward of saying "INNA LILLAHI WA INNA ILAHI RAJIOON" during the death of our parents.

i read in one hadith if one say this allah will built a palace in paradise and forgive sins for the person to be patient instead of wailing and shouting.

IAM THANKFULL TO ALLAH , FOR GIVING ME THE CHANCE TO MEET MY MOTHER DURING HER FINAL RITES AND TO SEE HER ,AS HER SOUL PASSED IN FRONT OF ME AND I WAS THE PERSON TO PERFORM HER FUNERAL TO LAND HER IN THE GRAVE.AS IAM WORKING IN SAUDI ARABIA MANY PEOPLE WILL MISS THE OPPORTUNITY TO ATTEND THE FUNERALS OF THERE PARENTS, WHERE AS ALLAH GAVE ME THE OPPORTUNITY.

EAGERLY WAITING FOR UR REPLY,

THANKING YOU,

Answer:

Patience and palace in paradise

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Your Question: my question is what is the reward of saying "INNA LILLAHI WA INNA ILAHI RAJIOON" during the death of our parents.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 2 Surah Baqarah verses 155-157:

155 Be sure We shall test you with something of fear, and hunger, some loss in goods, or lives or the fruits (of your toil); but give glad tidings to those who patiently persevere.

156 Who say when afflicted with calamity: "To Allah we belong and to Him is our return." (Inna lillahe wa inna ilayhe rajeoon)

157 They are those on whom (descend) blessings from Allah and Mercy and they are the ones that receive guidance.

Commenting on the above verses 156-157 of Surah Baqarah, Hadrat Abdullah ibn Abbas (r.a.) said: "Allah, the Almighty and the Exalted, informs us that when a believer is patient and resigned after a misfortune visits him and invokes Allah, Allah will grant him three (good) merits: blessings, mercy, and guidance to the right path."

Abu Hurairah (r.a.) reports that the Prophet (saws) said: "Allah, the Exalted and Glorious Says: 'I have no better reward than Paradise for a believing servant of Mine who is patient and resigned when I take away one of his beloved, one among those he most cherishes in the world."

Perhaps the hadith you are referring to is the one quoted below; but that is when a servant of Allah manifests patience when one amongst their off-spring die in their lifetime……

Abu Musa al-Ash'ari (r.a.) reports that the Prophet (saws) said: "When a child of a servant of Allah passes away, Allah Asks (although He Knows Everything) to the Angels: 'Did you take the soul of My servant's child?' They reply: 'Yes.' He, the Almighty, Says: 'Did you take away the apple of my servant's eye?' They reply: 'Yes.' He, the Almighty Says: 'What did My servant say at this?' They reply: 'He praised You and said: "Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'a un (Verily we belong to Allah and to Him shall we return)." At this Allah Decrees: ' Build for My servant a mansion in Paradise and call it the ‘House of Praise’ (Al-Bayt al-Hamd)'."
