What is the name of the child offered by Abraham?
Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,
As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.
(May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)
One of our brothers/sisters has asked
this question:
Assalaam
Alaikum WRWB Burhan Bhai,
I wish
you and islamhelpline.com abundant best wishes and
success in this New Year and always, Ameen!
Ok, I
have a non-Muslim colleague, who is Alhumdulillah impressed by the teachings of
Islam. She says that she finds a lot of meaning and depth in Islamic teachings,
even though her friends and family laugh at them.
Thus,
Insha'Allah I am trying my best to slowly & gradually convert her….may
ALLAH (SWT) Help me, Ameen.
Burhan
Bhai, today she asked me:
What
is the name of the child offered by Abraham?
What
is the name of his son to Hagar?
His
son to Sarah?
Can
you pls. advise? Jazak Allah Khair

Answer:
First born of
ibraheem
In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His
help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide,
and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear
witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear
witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His
Messengers.
Your
Statement: She says that she finds a lot of meaning and depth in Islamic
teachings, even though her friends and family laugh at them.
Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 45 Surah
Jathiya verses 31-35:
7 Who doth greater wrong than one who invents falsehood against Allah
even as he is being invited to Islam? And Allah guides not those who do wrong.
8 Their intention is to extinguish Allah's Light with their mouths:
but Allah will complete His Light even though the disbelievers may detest (it)!
Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 45 Surah
Jathiya verses 31-35:
31 But as to those who reject Allah (to them will be said on the Day of
Judgment): "Were not Our Revelations rehearsed to you? But ye were
arrogant and were a people given to sin!
32 And when it was said that the Promise of Allah is True and that the
Hour, there was no doubt about its (coming), ye used to say `We know not what
is the Hour: we only think it is an idea and we have no firm assurance.'"
33 Then will appear to them the evil (fruits) of what they did and they
will be completely encircled by that which they used to mock at!
34 It will also be said: "This Day We will forget you as ye
forgot the meeting of this Day of yours! And your abode is the Fire,
and no helpers have ye!
35 This because ye used to take the Signs of Allah in jest, and the
life of the world deceived you." (From) the Day therefore they shall not
be taken out thence, nor shall they be received into Grace.
Your
Statement: Thus, Insha'Allah I am trying my best to slowly & gradually
convert her….may ALLAH (SWT) Help me, Ameen.
Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 47 Surah
Muhammad verse 7:
7 O ye who believe! If ye will help
(the Cause of) Allah He will help you, and plant your feet firmly (in
His Way).
Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith 5.521 Narrated by Sahl bin Sad
……The Messenger of Allah (saws) said to
Hadrat Ali ibn Abi Talib (r.a.): ‘By Allah, even if a single person is led on
the Right Path (of Islam) by Allah through you, then that will be better for
you than the nicest red camels (the most prized possession of those times)!"
Your
Question: What is the name of the child offered by Abraham?
Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 37 Surah
Saaffaat verses 100-112:
100 (And Ibraheem (a.s.) prayed): "O my Lord!
grant me a righteous (son)!"
101 So We gave him the good news of a boy (Ismail (a.s.), ready to
suffer and forbear.
102 Then when (Ismail (a.s.)) reached (the age of (serious) work with
him, he (Ibraheem (a.s.)) said: "O my son! I see in vision that I offer
thee in sacrifice: now see what is thy view!" (Ismail (a.s.)) said:
"O my father! Do as thou art commanded: thou will find me, if Allah so
Wills, one practicing patience and constancy!"
103 So when they had both submitted their wills (to Allah) and He
(Ibraheem (a.s.)) had laid him (Ismail (a.s.)) prostrate on his forehead (for
sacrifice)
104 We called out to him "O Ibraheem!
105 Thou hast already fulfilled the vision!" Thus indeed do We
reward those who do right.
106 For this was obviously a trial
107 And We ransomed him (Ismail (a.s.)) with
a momentous sacrifice:
108 And We left (this blessing) for him among generations (to come) in
later times.
109 "Peace and salutation to
Ibraheem!"
110 Thus indeed do We reward those who do
right.
111 For he was one of Our believing servants.
112 And (then) We gave him (Ibraheem (a.s.)) the good news of Isaac, a
Prophet, one of the righteous.
In light of the guidance of the Glorious Quran, Prophet
Ibraheem (a.s.) was Commanded by the Lord to offer his first-born son, Hadrat
Ismail (a.s.) for sacrifice.
For some reason, the modern day Bible states that it was
the second-born son of Prophet Ibraheem (a.s.) with Hadrat Sarah, Hadrat Ishaaq
or Isaac (a.s.) who was offered for sacrifice by Prophet Ibraheem (a.s.)….but
as clearly declared by the Lord Himself in His Glorious Quran in the Verse 112
quoted above, the Noble Prophet Ishaaq (a.s.) was not even born when this
incident of the offering of Hadrat Ismail (a.s.) took place in Makkah!
And it came to pass after these things, that
God did tempt Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said, ‘Behold, here I
am’.
And He said: ‘Take now thy son, thine
only son, Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the
Bible, Book of Genesis, 22:1-2
Your
Question: What is the name of his son to Hagar?
The name of the first-born son of Hadrat Ibraheem (a.s.)
with Hadrat Hajrah or Hagar was Hadrat Ismail (a.s.).
Your
Question: His son to Sarah?
The name of the second born son of Hadrat Ibraheem (a.s.)
with Hadrat Sarah was Hadrat Ishaaq (a.s.).
