In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His
help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide,
and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear
witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear
witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His
Messengers.
May Allah Subhanah reward you with the best of this world
and the Hereafter for your kind comments of encouragement for our humble
efforts in the propagation of the Truth.
If our humble and modest efforts have helped even one brother or sister
get closer to Allah and His Deen of Truth, then we would consider ourselves
indeed fortunate to have been given this opportunity by the Lord Most Merciful
to serve in His Cause. We hope, beg, and
pray the Merciful Lord accepts our humble and weak efforts, forgives us our
shortcomings, and saves you, us, and all the believers from the torment of the
Hell Fire. Ameen.

Sahih Muslim Hadith 144 Narrated by Abu Hurayrah
When the son of Adam recites the Ayah of
Sajdah (from the Glorious Quran) and then falls down in prostration, the
Shaytaan goes into seclusion and weeps and says: ‘Alas! Woe unto me! The son of
Adam was commanded to prostrate, and he prostrated and
Respected sister in Islam, nothing hurts the accursed
enemy of mankind, the evil and rejected Shaytaan, than when a believer does any
act or deed which finds acceptance and favor with Allah Subhanah….and it is
only expected that the accursed Shaytaan will do whatever is in his power to
stop the believer from fulfilling their noble intention in worshipping or
obeying the Commands of their Lord Creator.
Thus my beloved sister, your reaction that you feel sleepy whenever you
intend to recite the Glorious Words of Allah Subhanah are not without
reason…..for it hurts and pains the accursed and rejected Shaytaan no end when
one amongst the believers intends to worship their Lord Creator! The one and only mission and ambition of this
accursed enemy of ours, the Shaytaan, is to take as many of the children of
Adam as he can into the Hell Fire!
Isn’t is surprising sister, that one can sit for hours on
end and watch a boring movie, or read an uninteresting book, or talk casual or
vain talk with friends all night, or play sport, or games, or cards, etc. for
hours and hours ….. and the thought of sleep does not even enter their
mind!....but as soon as one makes intention to recite the Glorious Quran, or
pray a few rakahs of ‘nafl’ prayers, or do a deed or an act which finds favor
with Allah Subhanah…..boom! …. the attack of the Shaytaan appears from nowhere
and one gets a feeling of tiredness, laziness, drowsiness, sleep, etc.!
Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 35 Surah
Fatir verse 6:
6 Verily the Shaytaan is an enemy to you: so treat him as an enemy. He only invites his adherents that they may become companions of
the Blazing Fire.
Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 2 Surah
Baqarah verse 208:
208 O ye who believe! Enter into Islam whole-heartedly; and follow not the
footsteps of The Shaytaan; for he is to you an avowed enemy.
Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 7 Surah
Aaraaf verses 12-18:
12 (Allah) said: "what prevented thee (O Iblees) from bowing down
(to Adam (a.s.)) when I commanded thee?"
He (Iblees) said: "I am better than he: Thou didst create me from
fire and him from clay."
13 (Allah) said: "Get thee down from this: it is not for thee to
be arrogant here: get out for thou art of the meanest (of creatures)."
14 He (Iblees) said: "give me respite
till the Day they are raised up."
15 (Allah) said: "be thou among those
who have respite."
16 He said: "because Thou hast thrown me out of the way, lo!
I will lie in wait for them (mankind) on Thy
17 Then will I assault them from before them, and behind them, from
their right, and their left: nor wilt Thou find in most of them gratitude (for
Thy Favors).
18 (Allah) said: "Get out from this disgraced and expelled. If any of them follow thee, Hell will I fill
with you all!”
Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 17 Surah
Israa verses 61-65:
61 Behold! We said to the Angels: "Bow down unto Adam": they
bowed down except Iblees: he (Iblees) said "Shall I bow down to one whom
Thou didst create from clay?"
62 He (Iblees) said "Seest Thou? This is the one whom Thou hast
honored above me! If Thou wilt but respite me to the Day of Judgment I will
surely bring his descendants under my sway, all but a few!"
63 Allah said: "Go thy way; if any of them follow thee, verily
Hell will be the recompense of you (all); an ample recompense.
64 Lead to destruction those whom thou canst among them with thy
(seductive) voice; make assaults on them with thy cavalry and thy infantry; mutually share with them wealth and children; and make promises to
them. But the Shaytaan promises them nothing but deceit.
65 As for My servants no authority shalt thou have over them."
Enough is thy Lord for a Disposer of affairs.
Your Question: what is
the best way to recite for greater durations without feeling sleepy.
Allah Says
in the Holy Quran Chapter 16 Surah Nahl verse 98-100:
98 When thou dost read the Qur'an seek Allah's protection from
Shaytaan, the rejected one.
99 No authority has he over those who believe and put their trust in
their Lord.
100 His authority is over those only who take him as patron and who join
partners with Allah.
First and foremost sister, whenever you intend to do a
good deed and the Shaytaan starts his mischief to stop you from doing what you
know is acceptable and meritorious in the Sight of Allah your Lord, immediately
seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Shaytaan….that is precisely why, The
All-Wise, All-Knowing Lord has Commanded the believers that whenever they
intend to recite the Glorious Quran, they should first seek Allah’s Protection
from the accursed enemy of man, the Shaytaan….for once one has taken refuge in
Allah Subhanah, it is expected that their Lord Most Gracious will protect them
from the constant attacks of the evil and accursed Shaytaan.
Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 15 Surah
Hijr verses 42-44:
42 (Allah tells the
Shaytaan): "For over My servants no authority
shalt thou have, except such as put themselves in the
wrong and follow thee."
43 And verily Hell is the promised abode for
them all!
44 To it are seven Gates: for each of those Gates is (special) class
(of sinners assigned).
Respected Sister, once you take refuge in Allah from the
accursed Shaytaan, make a solemn intention to stand firm and steadfast on
fulfilling the noble deed you intend to do for the Pleasure of Allah, and keep
your full trust and belief in the Power and the Strength of your Lord Most
High, Most Supreme….it is expected that the Shaytaan will be compelled to stop
his mischief and his evil whispering and leave you alone for sometime, and
search for another person with weak faith who would fall for his charming
deceit!
We assure you of one thing sister, the evil and accursed
enemy of man, the Shaytaan, will neither ever rest nor stop his attacks and
evil whisperings to take a believer away from the obedience and worship of
their Lord Most High, unless and until the last breath has left our
lungs…..thus we remind you sister, as we remind ourselves, make absolutely sure
you take constant precautions against the Shaytaan’s evil plots, remain
absolutely constant in always seeking refuge in Allah Subhanah, and remain firm
and steadfast in the conviction that it is the unconditional obedience and the
worship of the Lord Most Supreme Alone which will lead us to the Path of His
Mercy and His Grace.
Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 35 Surah
Fatir verse 6:
6 Verily the Shaytaan is an enemy to you: so treat him as an enemy. He only invites his adherents that they may become companions of
the Blazing Fire.
Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only
due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me
alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is
the Only Source of Strength.

well wisher in Islam,
