One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:

In the Holy Quran, Allah challenges the non-believers to bring forward a book like the Quran (or part of it) if they are indeed truthful. Such a challenge is put forward in 2:23, 10:38, 11:13 and 17:88 (as far as I know).

A couple of years back (or more) Dr Shorroush has authored a book called Furqan-ul-Haq and claims to have met the challenge of The Quran.

Please enlighten us with your views on this issue.

Produce surah challenge suroosh

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one (no idol, no person, no grave, no prophet, no imam, no dai, nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Your Statement: A couple of years back (or more) Dr Shorroush has authored a book called Furqan-ul-Haq and claims to have met the challenge of The Quran.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 17 Surah Israa verses 86-89:

86 If it were Our Will We could take away that which We have sent thee by inspiration (The Quran): then would thou find none to plead thy affair in that matter as against Us

87 Except for Mercy from thy Lord: for His Bounty is to thee (indeed) Great.

88 Say: "If the whole of mankind and the Jinns were to gather together to produce the like of this Qur'an they could not produce the like thereof ,even if they backed up each other with help and support.

89 And We have explained to man in this Qur'an every kind of similitude: yet the grater part of men refuse (to receive it) except with ingratitude!

Dear and Beloved Brother in Islam, it is the Supreme Challenge and Declaration of the Lord All-Mighty, Creator of the Heavens and the Earth, that even if the whole of mankind and the whole of the Jinns get together and try to produce the like of the Glorious Quran, they would not be able to produce it!!! Allah-o-Akbar! Allah-o-Akbar! Allah-o-Akbar!

It is not that any vile person who writes a few pages or phrases emulating the terminology of the Quran in the Arabic language and claims that he has fulfilled the challenge of the Lord All-Mighty, that he will be believed!!! If that was the case, every Abu Lahab and Abu Jahl would write some phrases in Arabic and claim the challenge of the Quran has been fulfilled!!!

The Truth is brother, that only when the wisdom, the commands, the eloquence, the warnings, and the concept and context of Divine Guidance is compared; one who is inclined to the Truth will clearly see the insurmountable difference between the Truth of the Words of Allah and the falsehood of the words of man!

Dr. Shorroush, who is indeed proficient in the Arabic language, might have written a book and called it Furqan-ul-Haqq….but if he ever even dares to claim that he has fulfilled the insurmountable challenge of the Quran, Allah is our witness, he is nothing but a confirmed liar! This man poses to be a Christian scholar of Arab origin who has spent his life in vain trying to prove the Words of Allah and the appointment of Prophet Mohamed (saws) as the Last and Final Messenger of Allah are a falsehood! Allah is my witness, I have seen this man debating our respected brother, scholar, and teacher Shaikh Ahmad Deedat several times on video; where on more occasions than one he has been proved by Shaikh Deedat, without an iota of a doubt, to be nothing but a confirmed liar!

If one has seen any of the debate videos between Dr. Sharroush and Brother Shaikh Ahmad Deedat, one would be able to see the state of utter desperation, helplessness, speechlessness, and misery Dr. Sharroush has brought upon himself in the life of this world with the falsehood that he tries to propagate; and if he does not seek repentance from the Lord All-Mighty and amend his conduct, Allah is our witness, his humiliation and degradation in the Hereafter will be absolute and complete indeed!

Beloved brother, if one even simply compares the Words of Wisdom of the Lord All-Mighty in the Glorious Quran with the words of this vilest of men, any who has even an iota of knowledge and wisdom will be forced to declare that the book ‘furqaan-ul-haqq’ written by Dr. Sharroush neither has the ‘furqaan’ (criterion) nor the ‘haqq’ (truth)….for Allah is our witness, Dr. Sharroush has plagiarized and taken both these terms from the Quran itself; and Allah is our witness, the Glorious Quran alone is the ‘Furqaan’ as well as the ‘Haqq’!!!

Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 17 Surah Bani Israel verse 81:

And declare, “The ‘Haqq’ (Truth) has come and falsehood has vanished. And falsehood is a thing that must by its nature, vanish!”

Allah is our witness, Dr. Sharroush and his words will, if he has not already, vanish from the face of this earth; but our Lord Allah and His Words will endure for Eternity!

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.
