Three major religions

Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,

As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh. (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)

One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:

All Three "major" relegions claim that we are made in the likeness of Allah. Are we saying then, that Allah has two hands and two legs etc.. and then, is Allah male or female, since we are created in his image..

(There may be some grammatical and spelling errors in the above statement. The forum does not change anything from questions, comments and statements received from our readers for circulation in confidentiality.)

Answer:

Three major religions

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one (no idol, no person, no grave, no prophet, no imam, no dai, nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad(saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Although the Bible might claim that God created man in His image; the Quran says no such thing as is against this belief. The Holy Quran clearly states that Allah Subhanah created man from clay and fashioned him in due proportion in whatever form He Willed, and breathed into man of His ‘Rooh’ (Spirit).

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 32 Surah Sajdah verse 9: But He (Allah) fashioned him (man) in due proportion and breathed into him something of His Spirit. And He gave you (the faculties of) hearing, and sight, and feeling (and understanding): little thanks do ye give!

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 15 Surah Hijr verses 28-29:

28 Behold! Thy Lord said to the angels: "I am about to create man from sounding clay, from mud molded into shape;

29 "When I have fashioned him (in due proportion), and breathed into him of My spirit; fall ye down in prostration unto him."

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 82 Surah Infitaar verses 6-8:

6 O man! What has seduced thee from thy Lord, Most Beneficent?

7 Him, Who created thee, fashioned thee in due proportion, and gave thee a just bias;

8 In whatever Form He Wills, does He put thee together.

The believers are commanded to believe their Gracious Lord and Creator in the unseen, and recognize Him through His Signs and His Attributes. To have an image of Allah, or to believe that Allah Subhanah has two hands, two legs, or has a gender, etc. is against the principles of believing in the Unseen and The Incomparable Creator, and thus against the principles of Islam.

Allah says describing Himself in the Holy Quran Chapter 42 Surah Ash-Shura verse 11:There is Absolutely nothing like Him (Allah) in the whole Universe!!! He is the All-Hearing, The All-Seeing!! To Him Alone belong the keys of the treasures of the heavens and the earth!!

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your Brother in Islam,

Burhan
