Assalam Alaikum. A non muslim brother argues that it is told in Quran that all previous books are safe guarded by the God and muslims argument of corruption previous books is wrong. He also challenges that our this argument proves Quran is wrong. Can you please shed some light

Answer:

Previous scriptures books changed

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Beloved brother, there are several passages in the Glorious Quran whereby none other than the All-Knowing All-Wise Lord Himself Declares that the previous Scriptures were altered and changed!

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 5 Surah Maidah verses 13-15:

13 But because of their (The Children of Israel’s) breach of their Covenant We cursed them and made their hearts grow hard: they change the words from their (right) places and forget a good part of the Message that was sent them, nor wilt thou cease to find them barring a few ever bent on (new) deceits: but forgive them and overlook (their misdeeds): for Allah loveth those who are kind.

14 From those too who call themselves Christians We did take a Covenant but they forgot a good part of the Message that was sent them: so We estranged them with enmity and hatred between the one and the other to the Day of Judgment. And soon will Allah show them what it is they have done.

15 O People of the Book! There hath come to you Our Messenger (Mohamed (saws)) revealing to you much that ye used to hide in the Book and passing over much : There hath come to you from Allah a (new) Light and a perspicuous Book (The Al-Quran).

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 3 Surah Ale-Imran verse 78:
78 There is among them (The People of the Book) a section who distort the (Divine) Book with their tongues; (as they read) you would think it is a part of the Book but it is no part of the Book; and they say "That is from Allah" but it is not from Allah: it is they who tell a lie against Allah and (well) they know it!

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 10 Surah Yunus verses 68-70:

68 They (The Christians) say "Allah hath begotten a son!" Glory be to Him! He is The Self-Sufficient! His are all things in the heavens and on earth! No warrant have ye for this! Say ye about Allah what ye know not?

69 Say: "Those who invent a lie against Allah will never prosper."

70 A little enjoyment in this world, and then to Us will be their return. Then shall We make them taste the severest Penalty for their blasphemies.

Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 2 Surah Baqarah verse 79:

Then woe to those who write The Book with their own hands, and then say, “This is from Allah”, so that they might gain some paltry worldly price. This writing of their hands will bring woe to them, and what they gain thereby will lead to their ruin!

The ignorance of the non-muslim brother who claims that the Glorious Quran confirms that the Old Scriptures have not been manipulated is evident from the verses quoted above!

What is even more amazing is that this brother does not need to believe the guidance of the Glorious Quran if he does not wish to, to remove his misconception that the Previous Scriptures have not been altered and manipulated! All the brother needs to do, if indeed he is serious in determining the Truth, is to ask any good Christian or Jewish scholar, who will themselves confirm that the Bible and the Torah which is amongst them today is not the same verbatim Revelations which the Lord Most High revealed unto the Noble Prophets Isa (a.s.) and Musa (a.s.)!!!

If one asks even the best of the Christian scholars, they themselves will testify that the Original Divine Revelations revealed by Allah upon Prophet Isa (a.s.) and Prophet Musa (a.s.) have been destroyed, and the Bible and the Torah they have amongst them are not the original Divine Revelations.! That is why each of the numerous sects amongst the Christians and the Jews have their own versions of the Bible and the Torah, like the Orthodox Version, the Roman Catholic Version, the King James Version (which itself apparently have more than 16 editions!), the New International Version, etc. etc.!

A simple way to clarify this point is to quote any passage from the ‘Bible’ or the ‘Torah’ to any good scholar amongst them, and the first thing their scholar will ask you is ‘which version of the Bible or the Torah are you quoting from?’!!!

Before someone takes upon the unbearable burden of striving to discredit the Glorious Quran, it would only be prudent for them to understand what results and consequences their this fruitless striving will bear in the Presence of their Lord Creator Most Majestic Most Supreme on the Inevitable Day of Resurrection……

Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 43 Surah Zukhruf verse 78:

78 Verily We have brought the Truth to you: but most of you have a hatred for Truth.

Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 2 Surah Baqarah verse 99:

We have sent down to you Revelations that clearly expound the Truth, and none but the disobedient reject them.

Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 6 Surah Anaam verse 33:

We know that what they say grieves you. But it is not you whom they charge with falsehood! These wicked people are in fact, denying the Revelations of Allah!

Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 6 Surah Anaam verse 157-158:

Now that a clear proof, a Guidance and Blessing, has come to you from your Lord, who can be more unjust than the one who treats Our Revelations as false and turns away from them? We will inflict the severest torment on those who turn away from Our Revelations because of their aversion. Do the people now await that the Angels should come down before them? Or that your Lord may Himself come down? Or that the manifest Signs of your Lord should appear?

Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 10 Surah Yunus verses 40-44:

Some of these people will believe in (The Quran), and others will not. Your Lord knows these mischief-makers very well indeed. If these people deny you, say to them: “I am responsible for my deeds and you are for yours. You are not accountable for what I do, nor am I for what you do.” There are many among them who hear what you say, but will you make the deaf to listen to you, even though they be incapable of understanding this? Then there are many others among them who see you. But will you show the way to the blind, even though they be bereft of sight? The fact is that Allah does not in any way wrong the people, but they wronged themselves!

Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 34 Surah Saba verse 5:

As for those who strive hard to discredit Our Revelations, for them is a painful torment, most humiliating.

If one trusts, obeys, and follows the guidance and commands of Allah and His Messenger (saws), one can be assured of never ever being misled; but if one believes, obeys and follows any other guidance, other than that of Allah and His Messenger (saws), one can be assured of being led astray.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.
