One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:

Assalama alaikum.

It is strictly prohibited to have sexual intercourse with one’s wife during her period of menstruation. It is strictly prohibited to enter the woman through her anus. Although there is no specific prohibition mentioned in the Quran and Sunnah, the majority of the scholars in Islam have voiced their opinion against ‘oral’ sex, whereby one touches the other’s private organs with their mouth.

Dear arthour i just wanted to know that if somebody has already done this sin what is the punisment for that.Incase of menstuation of ones wife is he allowed to intercourse his wife from anus as i have heard most of the peoples do in this way.

Please guide me with the right way.

Anal sex

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Your Question: Dear arthour i just wanted to know that if somebody has already done this sin what is the punisment for that.

There is no prescribed punishment in Shariah Law which may be imposed on those who indulge in the unlawful and have sexual intercourse during their wives’ menstruation or perform ‘anal’ sex with their wives in the life of this world….if the doers of these transgressions die in a state whereby they did not seek sincere repentance for their evil, they will be assigned their due punishment in the Presence of their Lord All-Mighty in the Hereafter.

If one has committed these transgressions in ignorance in one’s past, their atonement is that they turn back to their Lord in sincere repentance seeking His Forgiveness, and amend their conduct thereafter; it is expected that they will find their Lord Forgiving, Merciful.

Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 39 Surah Zumur verses 53-54:

(O Prophet) say: “O My servants who have wronged their own souls….Do not despair of Allah’s Mercy! Surely, Allah forgives all sins. He indeed is the All Forgiving, All Merciful. Return to your Lord and submit to Him before the scourge overtakes you; for then you may get no help from anywhere.”

Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 3 Surah Ale Imraan verse 135-136:

Allah likes such good people very much, who, if ever they commit a base deed or wrong their own soul by the commission of a sin, remember Allah instantly, and ask for forgiveness from Him for their shortcomings. For who, but Allah, can forgive sins? (And Allah loves those) who do not knowingly persist in the wrongs they did. These will be rewarded with forgiveness from Allah, and with Gardens beneath which canals flow, and they will reside therein forever! How excellent is the reward of those who do good deeds!

Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 6 Surah Anaam verse 54:

When those come to you who believe in Our Signs, say: "Peace be on you! Your Lord had inscribed for Himself (the rule of) Mercy. Verily if any of you did evil in ignorance, and thereafter repented and amended (his conduct), Lo! He is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful."

Al-Tirmidhi Hadith 3192 Narrated by Khuzaymah ibn Thabit

The Prophet (saws) said, "Allah is not ashamed of the Truth! Do not have intercourse with women through the anus."

Al-Tirmidhi Hadith 3195 Narrated by Abdullah ibn Abbas

Allah's Messenger (saws) said, "Allah will not look at a man who has intercourse with a man or a woman through the anus."

Sunan of Abu-Dawood Hadith 2157 Narrated by Abu Hurayrah

The Prophet (saws) said: ‘He who has intercourse with his wife through her anus is accursed.’

Sunan of Abu-Dawood Hadith 3895 Narrated by Abu Hurayrah

The Prophet (saws) said: ‘If anyone resorts to a diviner and believes in what he says or has intercourse with his wife when she is menstruating, or has intercourse with his wife through her anus: he has nothing to do with what has been sent down to Muhammad (saws)!’

Under absolutely no situation or condition is a believer who sincerely believes in Allah and the Last Day to enter or have intercourse with his wife through her anus; such an act is absolutely and unconditionally prohibited for the believers in Islam.

The Messenger of Allah (saws) said, "Do everything (during the woman’s menstruation) except intercourse." (Related by Muslim, Tirmidhi, Abu Dawood)

If the wife is in her period of menses, or the period after child-birth, there is absolutely no harm and no sin if the husband and wife enjoy each other’s physical and intimate company by playing, touching, fondling, etc. The guidance of the Messenger of Allah (saws) on this subject is that the woman who is experiencing her menses must cover her lower private parts, and the husband and wife may enjoy every type of physical intimacy, except actual intercourse.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.
