Can you please tell me what is the sharee ruling with regards to those muslims, who knowingly don`t add `Salallaahu Alaihi Wasallam
Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,
As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa
Barakatuh. (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)
One of our brothers/sisters has asked
this question:
Assalamoalaikum Burhan Bhai.
1) Can you please tell me what is the sharee ruling with regards to those
muslims, who knowingly don`t add `Salallaahu Alaihi Wasallam` after the name of
hadrat Mohammad (Salallaahu Alaihi Wasallam), & other sahab-e-karam
(Radiallah Ta`ala Anhum); & the wives of Hadrat Mohammad (Salallaahu Alaihi
Wasallam) etc?
2) It`s a disputed Issue as to whether or not, Hadrat Mohammad (Salallaahu
Alaihi Wasallam) married Maria-al-Qurtabiya? Or did she remain a concubine
after she gave birth to Hazrat Mohammad (Salallaahu Alaihi Wasallam`s) son
Ibrahim (Alai Hisalam)? Please calrify for me.
Jazakallah Khair

Answer:
Salutations to say
saws after Prophet (saws) name
In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask
for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever
He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that
there is no one (no idol, no person, no
grave, no prophet, no imam, no dai,
nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that
Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.
Your Question: Can you please tell me what is
the sharee ruling with regards to those muslims, who knowingly don`t add

Allah says in the Holy
Quran Chapter 33 Surah Ahzaab verse 56:
Allah and His Angels send blessings on the
Prophet: O ye that believe! Send ye blessings on him and salute him with all
respect.
When the above aayah of the
Quran was revealed the companions asked the Prophet (saws) how should the
believers send salutations to him (saws).
Abu Mas'ud
Al-Ansari reported the following account from Bashir ibn Sa'd: "I asked Prophet
(saws) 'O Messenger of Allah
(saws), Allah has commanded us to invoke
blessings upon you. How should we do
it?' The Messenger of Allah (saws)
remained silent until we wished we had not asked him. Then he told us to say,
'Allahumma salli 'ala muhammadin wa 'ala ali muhammadin kama
sallayta 'ala ali ibrahima, wa barik
'ala muhammadin wa 'ala ali muhammadin kama barakta 'ala ibrahima wa 'ala ali
ibrahima; fil 'alamin, innaka hammidum
majeed. {Narrated by Muslim.}
(O Allah, bless
Muhammad and the family of Muhammad as You blessed the family of Ibrahim, and give baraka to Muhammad and the family of
Muhammad as You gave baraka to Ibrahim and the family of Ibrahim. In all the worlds, You are worthy of Praise
and Glorious)
Allah Subhanah Himself has Commanded the believers to send
salutations to the Prophet (saws). The
scholars in Islam have differed in their opinion whether it is obligatory to
send salutations upon the Prophet (saws) each time his name is mentioned, or
whether sending one salutation in one gathering would suffice.

Topic: Sending Salutations to the Prophet on
Hearing His Name. Is this Obligatory?
Some Muslim scholars hold that it is
obligatory to send salutations upon the Prophet, i.e. invoke blessings upon
him, each time one hears his (saws) name mentioned. They, like Al-Tahawi and
Al-Halimi, base their argument on a hadith recorded by Tirmidhi and related
from Abu Hurairah, that the Prophet (saws) said, "May the nose of the
person in whose presence I am mentioned be covered with dirt if he does not
invoke blessings upon me. And let the nose of that person be smeared with dust
who finds the month of Ramadan but lets it come to an end without securing
pardon for himself. And may the nose of the person be smeared wlth dust whose
aged parents, both of them or one of them, are still living, and who fails them
(i.e. by serving them) to enter Paradise."
In a report related by Abu Dharr Ghaffari
"the Prophet (saws) said, 'The most miserly among people is the one who
fails to invoke blessings upon me when my name is mentioned in his or her
presence'."
Other scholars are of the opinion that
invoking Allah's blessings upon the Prophet (saws) only once while in a
gathering is obligatory. After that it is no longer obligatory, though it is
preferred to do so. This is based on a hadith from Abu Hurairah that the
Prophet (saws) said, "If some people sitting together in an assembly do
not remember Allah in it, nor invoke Allah's blessings upon His Prophet (saws),
they will be sorry on the Day of Judgment. Allah may either punish them or
forgive them." (Related by Tirmidhi)
To make the supplication ‘radhe-Allaho anho’ (may Allah be
pleased with them) when the name of a
noble companion or a wife of the Prophet (saws) is mentioned is not obligatory,
but amongst the preferred etiquette of one who loves the Messenger (saws), his
noble companions and his blessed and chaste family.

To the best of our
knowledge, there is no authentic record or tradition which states that the
Messenger of Allah (saws) freed and/or married through Nikaah Hadrat Maria
Kibtiya, either before or after she gave birth to their son Ibraheem. And Allah Alone Knows Best.
Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s
Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only
Source of Strength.
