Can a wife call her husband by his name? Or is it Maqrooh to call her husband by name?

One of our brothers/sisters has asked
this question:
Assalamu
Alaikum,
Can a
wife call her husband by his name? Or is it Maqrooh to call her husband by
name?
(There may be some grammatical and spelling
errors in the above statement. The forum does not change anything from

Answer:
Call Husband by name
In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask
for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever
He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that
there is no one (no idol, no person, no
grave, no prophet, no imam, no dai,
nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that
Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.
There is absolutely no harm, nor restriction, nor is it
discouraged in Islam for a wife to call her husband by his maiden name, if she
wishes to do so.
The prevalent culture of the Arabs at the time of the
Prophet (saws), and even until today amongst the pure Arabs, one (regardless of
whether husband or wife) is honorably called and recognized by his/her eldest
sons’ name. For example, if one’s eldest
son name is Khalid, then the mother would be called ‘Umm-Khalid’ (mother of
Khalid) and the father ‘Abu-Khalid’ (father of Khalid).
But if the wife wishes to call her husband by his maiden
name, there is absolutely no harm nor is it discouraged in Islam.
Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to
Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only
Source of Strength.
Your brother and well wisher in
Islam,
Burhan
