Learn fiqh before trading business
Mu' meneen Brothers and
Sisters,
As Salaam Aleikum wa
Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh. (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be
upon all of you)
One of our
brothers/sisters has asked this question:
Salaam
Theres a hadith that
says learn the fiqh of trading before starting a business or people will sin
because of riba. Can you explain the fiqh of trading? Jazallah.
(There may be some
grammatical and spelling errors in the above statement. The forum does not
change anything from questions, comments and statements received from our
readers for circulation in confidentiality.)
Answer:
Learn fiqh before trading business
In the name of Allah, We praise
Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none
can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright.
We bear witness that there is no one (no idol, no person, no grave, no prophet, no imam, no dai, nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah
Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the
seal of His Messengers.
The Messenger of Allah (saws)
indeed encouraged and guided the believing traders to acquire knowledge and
learn the Shariah laws regarding the haraam and the halaal in trading so that
they would be able to conduct their business within the boundaries permitted by
Allah and His Messenger (saws).
Beloved Brother in Islam, it would
be almost impossible for us to relate the complete Fiqh of Trading on this
forum, as it would indeed become a very lengthy article. The best way to acquire this knowledge
is to study the Chapter titled ‘Trading’ in the Book of Islamic
Jurisprudence called ‘Fiqh-us-Sunnah’, where almost every aspect of
the principle of trading is documented in light of the guidance of the Quran
and the Sunnah.
This Book should be available in
any good Islamic library or any good Islamic book-store. If you have any difficulty locating this
book, please do write back to us and we will try our best to locate it for you in
the language you understand best.
Whatever written of Truth and
benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of
error is of me. Allah Alone Knows
Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.
Your Brother in Islam,
Burhan
