Dear
Brother in Islam
I
would be grateful if you could give reason for Prophet Muhammed giving the Azan
in the ears of newborns. Please mention all known hadiths in this regard. Many
thanks and may Allah help you carry this great Dawah work.

Answer:
Adhaan in new born
In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask
for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever
He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that
there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that
Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.
Sunan of Abu-Dawood Hadith 5086 Narrated by Abu Rafi'
I saw the Messenger of Allah (saws) uttering
the call to prayer (Adhan) in the ears of al-Hasan ibn Ali (r.a.) when Fatimah
(r.a.) gave birth to him.
It is indeed considered a preferred Sunnah to announce the
adhaan in the ears of the new-born soon after their birth. Although neither the Messenger of Allah
(saws) himself explained, nor did his companions ever question him regarding
its wisdom, the reason seems to be that amongst the very first thing the new
born hears when he enters this world is the Proclamation and Declaration of
Tawheed (Oneness of Allah) and Islam.
And Allah Alone Knows Best.
Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to
Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only
Source of Strength.
Your brother and
well wisher in Islam,
Burhan
