Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,

As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh. (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)

One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:

Dear Brother, I have read all the responses in this particular section and Alhamdolillah they all were answered in the best possible manner.  I know its a complicated issue, and correct me if I am wrong that we are not supposed to inquire or ponder much on this topic.
Further to your clarifications, one ambiguity still bothers me. Allah SWT says in Quran, "ujebbo dawat ut da e isa daaan...." ( sorry I cant write in arabic)  which means, that Allah will listen to your dua and He will provide.  My question is that can DUA could change the predestined things? if in one of the hadith that you quoted says that destination is written and is being rolled over then whats the effect of dua?  May Allah forgive me for asking something which weakens the iman of others, hence i click this as a private question, and its upto u to decide, if you wanna publish it or not. JazakAllah

Answer:

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Brother the fact is that we making duaa and Allah swt changing our state in answer to our prayers, is not like we conceive it.

Allah swt knows from His infinite wisdom that we will come into this situation and then make supplications. So He accepts our duaa according to His wish and our request. All this is known to Him before it actually happens. That is why we say it has been decreed and nothing can and will be changed.

It is not that Allah swt is unable and incapable to change anything He wishes. It is only that there is no need because His decree is so perfect that no change is required.

So the fact that we make duaa is already decreed and the fact that Allah swt accepts our supplications according to His will is also decreed. The only difference is we are not aware of the decree as we are living the situation in real time.

So if one for instance has doubts about the capabilities of Allah swt and says why should we make supplications when the result is already decreed, he does not know that he is actually re-inacting the decree wherein he does not make the supplication and whatever had to happen happens.

The solution is to understand and accept our helplessness and with humility and gratefulness always make as many supplications as possible so that we may not miss out on our worship and receive the many blessings, bounties and forgiveness of our Majestic Lord.

We hope we have been able to explain this phenomena, but if not to your satisfaction it is only because of our lack of knowledge and capacity to express ourselves better.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.
