After marriage wife serve to husband or household: ..
As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh. (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)
One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:
These days the girls are generally of the view that after marriage it is the responsibility of the husband to make all provisions of the household including Rations, Clothing, Bedding, Furniture, Domestic servants etc etc. They opine that a Wife is Not supposed to do any household job, nor to cook food, nor to look after the kids of husband, nor to act as a slave in the manner they have seen thier mothers serve thier fathers. This thought process is spreading very fast among the young generation, causing a lot of disruption and anxiety amongst young couples. Can you pl advise fhe true teachings of Islam in this respect. Thanks.

Answer:
After marriage wife serve to husband or household
In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.
The truth is Brother the husband is required to make provisions according to the rizq Allah swt grants him. This includes all the provisions of the household including rations, clothing, bedding, furniture, medical expenses and if within his means domestic servants too.
The wife's duty is to look after the husbands house, including the children and cook if husband does not have the means to provide for domestic help. If the husband has the means even the children can be put under domestic help. Under no circumstances is she to be treated as a slave.
The fact is the duties of the husband and the wife are to be worked out between them in an honorable and just manner with love and affection and the fear of Allah swt.. In the olden days the wives were treated quite harshly, but now times have changed and women are educated and they know their rights. That was an extreme and today some women go to the extreme of doing nothing at all. Couples must find a balanced solution amongst themselves without infringing on each others rights.
Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is only ones. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.
