How to salute greetings the prophet(saws)
Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,
As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.
(May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)
One of our brothers/sisters has asked
this question:
ASSALAMUALAIKUM.
Dear
Scholar,
Is
there any harm if I recite SALATH like SALL-ALLAHU ALA MUHAMMAD SALL-ALLAHU
ALAIHI WASSALAM.... or we have recite only the way we are reciting in
ATHAHIYATHU.
ALLAH
SAID THE IF WE SAY SALATH IN THE NAME OF RASUL(PBUH)…ALLAH WILL SAY 10 SALATH
FOR US. So will get this only if I recite like of ATHAHIYATHU or above will
work.
Please
send some me some SALATH also.

Answer:
How to salute
greetings the prophet(saws)
In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His
help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide,
and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear
witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear
witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His
Messengers.
Your
Question: Is there any harm if I recite
SALATH like
ATHAHIYATHU.
Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 33 Surah
Ahzaab verse 56:
Allah and His Angels send blessings on the
Prophet: O ye that believe! Send ye blessings on him and salute him with all
respect.
When Allah Subhanah Revealed the above Aayah of Surah
Ahzaab Commanding the believers to send the ‘durood’ or pray the salutation on
Prophet Mohamed (saws), the companions
of the Messenger of Allah (saws) came to the Prophet (saws) and asked him how
should they obey the Command of Allah Subhanah. And the Messenger of Allah (saws) taught
them the ‘durood’, which is recited by the
believers in their conical prayers:
Al-Muwatta Hadith 9.70
Yahya related from Malik from Nuaym ibn
Abdullah al-Mujmirthat, Muhammad ibn Abdullah ibn Zayd told him that Abu Masud
al Ansari said, "The Messenger of Allah (saws) came to us at the gathering
of Sad ibn Ubada. Bashir ibn Sad said
to him, 'Allah has ordered us to ask for blessings on you, O Messenger of Allah
(saws). How should we do it?' The Messenger of Allah (saws), remained silent
until we wished we had not asked him. Then he (saws) told us to say, 'O Allah,
bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad as You blessed Ibrahim and the family
of Ibrahim, and give baraka to Muhammad and the family of Muhammad as You gave
baraka to Ibrahim and the family of Ibrahim. In all the worlds You are worthy
of Praise and Glorious,'"
- Majid.)
When one is reciting the ‘tashahud’ in prayer, one is
obliged to recite the full ‘durood’ as taught and practiced by the Messenger of
Allah (saws).
The Messenger of Allah (saws) said: ‘Pray as
you have seen me pray’.

Sallalaahu

literally means ‘may the Blessings of Allah be upon him (Prophet Mohamed
(saws)) and peace.’
Sallalaahu
alayhe wa alihi wa sallam: literally means ‘may the Blessings of Allah be upon him (Prophet
Mohamed (saws) and his family (or his followers); and peace.’
Abdullah bin Amr bin Al-'As reported that he
heard the Prophet (saws) saying, "If anyone invokes blessings upon me
once, Allah will bestow blessings upon him ten times over."

The believers are obliged to invoke the Blessings of Allah
unto the Prophet (saws) whenever his name is mentioned in their presence. Regardless of whether one recites the whole
‘durood’ or merely chooses to declare ‘Sallalu alayhe wa Sallam’, it would
suffice to fulfill the Command of Allah Subhanah.
Abu Hurairah reports that the Prophet (saws)
said, "May the nose of the person in whose presence I am mentioned be
covered with dirt if he does not invoke blessings upon me.”

Abu Dharr al-Ghaffari narrated that the
Prophet (saws) said, 'The most miserly amongst people is the one who fails to
invoke blessings upon me when my name is mentioned in his or her presence.’
Abu Hurairah reported that the Prophet (saws)
said, "When any Muslim sends greetings upon me, Allah returns my soul to
me so that I may respond to his greetings." (Related by Abu Dawud)
Abu Hurairah reported that the Prophet
(saws), "Do not turn my grave into a site of festivities, but send
salutations to me for your salutations are raised to me wherever you might
be." (Related by Abu Daw'ud)
Ibn Masud reported that the Prophet (saws)
said, "The people nearest to me on the Day of Judgment will be the ones
most conscientious in invoking blessings upon me." (Related by Tirmidhi.)
