this question:
Asalamalaikum
Brother,
Is there any sahih Hadith, in which Resold Allah saws has attributed any
special significance of status to a believer who dies in the state of Fasting.
My father passed away 15 years ago while fasting.
Just curious..
Jazakallah khair for all your efforts in conveying the truth.

Answer:
Death while fasting
significance
In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His
help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide,
and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear
witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear
witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His
Messengers.
To the best of our limited knowledge, we have not come
across any authentic hadith attributed to the Messenger of Allah (saws) whereby
the significance or status or reward of one meeting with their appointment of
death while in the state of fasting is declared.
There is no doubt that if one meets their appointment of
death in the state of belief, or while in the act of worshipping their Lord
(ie. prayer, fasting, pilgrimage, etc.)…..it would indeed be considered an
honorable death.
Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith 2.356 Narrated by Ibn Abbas
While a companion was at Arafat (for Hajj)
with Allah's Messenger (saws), he fell down from his mount and broke his neck
(and died). So Allah's Messenger (saws) said, "Wash him with water and
‘Sidr’ and shroud him in two the pieces of cloth (his ehram) and neither
perfume him nor cover his head, for Allah will resurrect him on the Day of
Resurrection and he will be reciting the ‘Talbeeyah’ (Labbayk Allahumma
Labbayk….).”
Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only
due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me
alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is
the Only Source of Strength.

well wisher in Islam,
