One of our brothers/sisters has asked
this question:
Dear,
Brother burhan
Assalamualaikum I have one
question please answer me
1) If some one intended to go
Jeddah for 5 to 6 days to stay with his relatives and in between if he planned
to do umra and come back again to Jeddah, Is it Acceptable?
(There may be some grammatical and spelling
errors in the above statement. The forum does not change anything from

Answer:
Perform umra while
visiting jeddah
In the name of Allah,
We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah
guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide
them aright. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah
Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the
seal of His Messengers.
If one pre-planned to take the
opportunity to perform the Umrah while visiting one’s relatives in Jeddah, then
one should adorn the intention of ‘ehram’ at the appointed place of ‘Meeqat’
before entering Jeddah; or alternatively travel to the nearest ‘Meeqat’ (which
in this case would be Taif) and adorn the ‘ehram’ for Umrah from there.
But if one had no prior
intention to perform the Umrah, but was merely visiting Jeddah and whilst in
Jeddah makes an intention to perform the Umrah, then one may adorn the ‘ehram’
from where one happens to reside in Jeddah.
Any which way, there is
absolutely no harm if one is visiting Jeddah for any reason and intends to take
the opportunity to perform the Umrah pilgrimage during their visit and return
back to Jeddah if they so wish.
Whatever written of
Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever
of error is of me alone. Allah Alone
Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.
Your brother and
well wisher in Islam,
Burhan
