Assalamo Alaykum,

Can I propose a man to marry me, does Islam permits a women to propose a man ?

I am a widow, having two daughters and i want to marry a man who should be financially sound because I have no brother or sisters of my own, I am staying with my parents and two daughters... So I wish If Allah Almighty could show me a way.. till now I didn't find any man who is ready to marry me, accepting my daughters as his. Please do suggest me.

I know everything happens by the will and wish of Allah Almighty but HE has given the sense of good and bad to Human beings..

Answer:

Can woman propose marriage

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

It is absolutely permissible in Islam for either party, the groom or the bride, to initiate a marriage proposal. In the blessed marriage that took place between Prophet Mohamed (saws) and his first and beloved wife Khadijah (r.a.), it was Hadrat Khadijah (r.a.) who had initiated the marriage proposal.

There is absolutely no harm and no restriction in Islam regarding who initiates the marriage proposal.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.
