I want to take a car on installment. But i don't want to give interest on him

Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,

As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.  (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)

One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:

Dear Brother,

AssalamoAlekum,

May Allah give you Jaza for having this forum. It helps in answering many questions and clearing many doubts.

My Question is related to interest.

I want to take a car on installment. But i don't want to give interest on him. Because it is not allowed to give and take interest on any thing . If it is possible , i ask them to increase the total amount of car  and then make it in installment. It will be allowed  in Islam  or not. Or tell me some other possible way  to avoid the interest.

Asalamualikum.

Answer:

Car on Installment

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one (no idol, no person, no grave, no prophet, no imam, no dai, nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Beloved brother, to ask someone to increase the price of a product and pay that increased price over a period of time later is without a doubt a manifestation and form of ‘riba’ or interest.

Beloved brother, if there are Islamic Banks or Islamic Financial Institutions in the area you reside, it would be best to approach them for the loan you might require to buy the car or any other product you may need. These institutions transact their business based on Shariah principles, and they might be able to help you secure an interest-free loan.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your brother and well wisher in Islam,

Burhan
