Meaning of name Aqeel Ahmad

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one (no idol, no person, no grave, no prophet, no imam, no dai, nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

The term and name ‘Aqeel’ is derived from the Arabic root word ‘aql’ or intelligence; thus the meaning of ‘Aqeel’ is ‘one who has intelligence’. In Islamic History, Aqeel was the name of a great and renowned companion of the Messenger of Allah (saws), and a brother of the fourth Khalifah, Hadrat Ali ibn Abi Taalib (r.a.).

Ahmad is another name for the Messenger of Allah, Mohamed ar-Rasool Allah (saws); and it means ‘one who praises (Allah) constantly or in excess’

Both Aqeel and Ahmad are absolutely beautiful and acceptable names in Islam.
