Answer:
Stopping wife from reading novels
In the
name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness.
Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray,
none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one (no idol, no
person, no grave, no prophet, no imam,
no dai,
nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that
Muhammad(saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.
May Allah
Subhanah reward you with the best of this world and
the Hereafter for your kind comments of encouragement for our humble efforts in
the propagation of the Truth. We humbly hope, beg,
and pray the Merciful Lord
accepts our humble and weak efforts,
forgives us our shortcomings, and
saves you, us, and all the believers
from the torment of the Hell Fire. Ameen.
Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 7 Surah Aaraaf verse 33: Say: The things that my Lord hath indeed forbidden are: shameful
deeds whether open or secret; sins and trespasses against truth or
reason; assigning of partners to Allah for which he hath given no authority;
and saying things about Allah of which ye have no knowledge.
Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 31 Surah Luqman verse 6: But there are among men those who purchase idle tales
without knowledge (or meaning) to mislead (men) from the Path of Allah and
throw ridicule (on the Path): for such there will be a humiliating Penalty.
It is
obviously absolutely forbidden in Islam to read ‘indecent’ novels and stories,
and the wife should fear Allah Subhanah and try to
stop this addiction. If the wife is
indeed God-Fearing and pious, and realizes and admits that she is indeed
addicted to reading these ‘indecent’ books and knows and believes that this act
of hers is displeasing to Allah Subhanah; it would
only be considered wisdom and righteousness on the part of the husband to give
her some time and help her give up her ‘addiction’ completely.
The
husband could help her with her addiction of reading ‘indecent’ novels, by
introducing and inviting her to read and study good wholesome Islamic Books
like the Glorious Quran, the Books of the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (saws), and the Books of
the Seerah of the Prophet (saws). This would be a better path for the husband
in helping his wife away from her addiction, and a path of wisdom and
non-confrontation.
Allah says in the Holy Quran: Chapter 16, Surah An-Nahl Ayat
125: Invite to the way of your Lord with wisdom and excellent admonition and
argue with people in the best manner. Your Lord knows best who has gone astray
from His Way and who is Rightly guided.
Whatever
written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance,
and whatever of error is of me. Allah
Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.
Your Brother in Islam,
Burhan
