Mullahs taking interest
Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,
As Salaam Aleikum wa
Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh. (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be
upon all of you)
One of our
brothers/sisters has asked this question:
Dear Sir,
What does Islam, Hadees and The Holy Quran say
about the double faced mulla's and people who pretend
to be the representatives of Allah, His apostle (s.a.w.
) and His message but in reality do exactly the opposite of what The Quran says or they themselves preach. For example I know a mulla who gave a long lecture on how "Interest is haram" in Islam, yet I know his business is highly
dependant on banks and bank loans where interest is applied in all departments.

Answer:
Mullahs taking interest
In the name of Allah, We praise
Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none
can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray,
none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one (no idol, no
person, no grave, no prophet, no imam, no dai,
nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad
(saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.
Islam is not the personal
property of some ‘mullah’ or holy man! Islam is the submission of one’s will to
the Will of his Lord and Creator! There
is absolutely no room in Islam for ‘mullah-ism’! We should not judge Islam by looking at the
acts of a particular holy man or ‘mullah’; but rather judge the ‘mullah’
according to the principles laid down in the Quran
and the Sunnah.
If a particular ‘mullah’ or holy
man is involved in practicing the haraam; his sin is
on him and he will be accountable to Allah Subhanah
for his deeds on the Day of Judgement! Allah Subhanah
does not look at the wealth, knowledge, clothes, face, beard, appearance,
nationality, language, race, color, etc. of a person…. What is important, and the one most honorable
in the sight of Allah, is the piety of the person. It may well be that a simple laborer who
lives his whole life being God-conscious and pious may attain a higher position
in
Allah says in the Holy
Quran: Chapter 49 Surah Hujurat verse 13:O mankind, We
created you from one man and one woman, and then divided you into nations and
tribes so that you may recognize one another.
Indeed,
the most honorable among you in the sight of Allah is he who is
the most pious of you.
Surely Allah is All-Knowing, All-Wise.
Any ‘mullah’ or preacher is no
more than a normal human being, and he might have his share of weaknesses and
sins, as no human beings (other than the Prophets) are sinless! Thus, if the knowledge that the person gives
is from the Quran and Sunnah,
take it and act upon that knowledge. And
if the knowledge that the person gives is against the Quran
and the Sunnah, leave it alone!
Whatever written of Truth and
benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error
is of me. Allah Alone Knows Best and He
is the Only Source of Strength.
Your Brother in Islam,
