Christian marriage and Shirk
Mu' meneen Brothers
and Sisters,
As Salaam
Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh. (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and
Blessings be upon all of you)
One of our
brothers/sisters has asked this question:
This refers to 1010
Christian marrying a Muslim
I think your answer is misleading.
Tell me, if you marry a woman who believes in the Trinitry (absolute shirk) and children are born out of this
wedlock, what happens then?
Isn't it a well known fact that children always follow the deen their mother follows? In the Arab world I have
many Arab friends who have Christian wives
who visit the Church every Sunday, and Xmas is celebrated every year in their homes. Children who grow up in such
homes will believe Jesus
is the son of God, who was crucified.
Please check details...and answer all the poor Muslims who believe they're in the right, having married
Christian women..
One of our
brothers/sisters has asked this question:
Dear brother in Islam,
Assalam Alaikum,
I must point out a grave mistake on your part on this subject. I
have read very clear instructions in Koran meaning "Donot marry mushriks
unless you convert them to Islam".
Since probably entire Christians of this day are mushriks,
therefore according to Koran muslims cannot marry christians unless they
convert them to Islam. Christianity is not a religion of Allah. Jesus did not
bring any new religion different from those of Israelis.
He was a Israeli prophet sent only for Israelis and not for
entire humanity. This is written even in the present day bible. I have
read it myself. I am in a hurry and therefore cannot give you the exact
location in the bible. I have read entire Koran with meaning and tafseer, old
testament and most of the new testament. Israelis of this day are not following
the religion of Allah and cannot be called beleivers in the sense of the word
used by Allah.
Please do your homework. momins are allowed to marry momins
only. Old testamnet states that the father of Moses married his father's
sister from whom Moses, Haroon and their sister Maryam were born. Can
you call these people muslims. Remember the religion of Ibrahim, Ishaq and
Yakoob (AS) was Islam. Read it in Koran. If these people are on the religion of
their forefathers then they are also muslims and muslims can marry them without
any conversion of religion. Please be very clear on the subject. You should go
back to Koran and correct yourself. Koran is very clear and precise on the
subject.
Thank you

Answer:
Christian marriage and Shirk
In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask
for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever
He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that
there is no one (no idol, no
person, no grave, no prophet, no imam,
no dai, nobody!) worthy of
worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad(saws) is His
slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.
Your Statement: I think your answer is misleading.
Dear
Brother, we only based our answer and
our opinion on what is said by Allah Subhanah in the Glorious Quran.
Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 5 Surah Maidah verse 5:
All the good and pure things have today been made lawful for
you. The food of the People of the Book
is lawful for you, and your food for
them. Likewise, you are permitted to marry chaste believing
women, or chaste women from
among the people who were given the Scriptures before you, provided that you give them their dowries and
become their protectors in wedlock.
This permission is not for sensual license or secret illicit
relations. Whoever rejects the Way of
Faith, all the deeds of his life shall
become vain, and he shall be in loss in
the Hereafter.
One must
realize that Allah has only given permission and made it legal for a believer
to marry a women from among the People of the Book, if he wishes to do so.
There is a difference between Allah giving permission and Allah giving a
Command or Order. One does not have to
do ALL the things which are permissible in Islam; just as one does not have to eat ALL the food that Allah has made
permissible for the believers to eat!
Allah has only made it permissible for the believers who want to do so.
We
sincerely apologize if we have not made ourselves clear, which might have lead to a misunderstanding
on the issue of marrying a women from among the People of the Book.
Your Question: Tell me, if you marry a woman who believes
in the Trinitry (absolute shirk) and
children are born out of this wedlock, what happens then?
Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 5 Surah Maidah verses 73-74:
Most certainly they committed disbelief who said, “God is one of the three”, whereas there is no deity other than the One
Deity. And if these people do not
desist from uttering such words, a
painful chastisement shall be inflicted on all those from among them who have
been guilty of blasphemy. Will they
not, then, turn to Allah and ask His pardon? Allah is Very Forgiving and Compassionate.
Allah
Subhanah Himself rebukes the theory of Trinity of the Christians in the Holy
Quran, and calls them disbelievers in
the above aayah, and committers of
shirk in another. But inspite of
that, Allah Himself has permitted the
marriage of a believing man to a woman from the People of the Book!
The law
in Islam is that the children will follow the religion of their father. Thus the children who are born of a muslim
father and a Christian or Jewish mother,
will follow Islam as their religion.
Your Question: Isn't it a well known fact that children
always follow the deen their mother
follows? In the Arab world I have many
Arab friends who have Christian wives
who visit the Church every Sunday, and Xmas is celebrated every
year in their homes. Children who grow
up in such homes will believe Jesus is
the son of God, who was crucified.
We
reteriate again, that in Islam, the children will follow the religion of the
father. If the father is weak of
faith in his Islam, and allows his children
to follow the religion of the mother (if she is not a muslim), then he will be held severely accountable
for not fulfilling his duty towards his children in the Court of Allah
Subhanah.
Your Question: Please check details...and answer all the poor
Muslims who believe they're in the
right, having married Christian women..
Brother,
we have already produced the aayah of the Holy Quran from Surah Maidah as
evidence, that Allah has given the
permission for a believing man to marry a woman from amongst the People of the
Book. This marriage has been made
valid and legal by Allah Subhanah Himself;
and what Allah has permitted, no
one has a right to forbid!
All the
scholars of Islam are unanimous in their opinion that a marriage between a
believer and a Jewish or Christian woman is valid and legal in Islam and
Shariah. If you have any evidence from the Quran and Sunnah, that such a marriage is not permitted or is
illegal in Shariah, we humbly request
you to produce your evidence.
Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to
Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only
Source of Strength.
Your Brother in Islam,
Burhan
