How to start to be a good muslim
Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,
As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.
(May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)
One of our brothers/sisters has asked
this question:
My parents are muslims alhamdoelilah and my brothers and
sisters are to, but I want to be one to but it isn`t that easy :( I know a lot
of soerats and I can read the Qoran, I know how to pray but I just can`t every
time I want to pray something holds me back and every day I start all over
again but I just don`t get to it, I find it very said because I know a lot
about the Islam and I know a lot of dua`s I even know the punishment there is
if you don`t pray but something is holding me back and my question for you is:
is there something I can do that will help me start praying and continue to
pray because I really want to be a good moslima insha Allah.
Salaam oe `ailakoem

How to start to be a
good muslim
In the name of Allah,
We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah
guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide
them aright. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah
Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the
seal of His Messengers.
Your Statement: ….is there something I can do that will
help me start praying and continue to pray because I really want to be a good
moslima insha Allah
Respected sister, first and
foremost you need to ask youself: ‘why do wish t worship Allah?’. Is it because your parents, or your brothers,
or your sisters, or your friends, etc. worship him or because The One Who
Created you and everything in existence deserves your worship!
If one in this world does
another a favor, one does not stop praising that person wherever one goes! If one starts to count the Favors and Mercies
of Allah, never would one be able to count them! Does not this Supreme Creator, Protector, and
Cherisher of the Worlds deserve that He Alone be worshipped?
Respected sister, although there
are several things which can inspire one to get close unto their Lord Most
Gracious and bow down unto Him in worship, in our humble opinion the one thing
that truly helps in recognizing the Magnificence of the Lord and inspires and
instigates one to bow down unto Him in worship is the constant recitation of
the Glorious Quran with understanding.
Whatever written of
Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever
of error is of me alone. Allah Alone
Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.
Your brother and well
wisher in Islam,
Burhan
