Prophets evidence for animals with fangs haraam
Mu' meneen Brothers
and Sisters,
As Salaam Aleikum wa
Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh. (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be
upon all of you)
One of our
brothers/sisters has asked this question:
Dear Burhan Sahib,
In your reply to
the referred question you mentioned:
The Messenger of
Allah (saws) forbade the believers to eat following animals.
1- Which hunts
with their fangs
2- which
hunts with their claws
3- forbade to eat
dogs and domestic donkies
As to my knowledge
our beloved prophet Muhammad (saws) never ever added anything on his own in his
teachings ( based on his own knowledge / perception) but he (saws) order to
forbade what Allah (MB & MM) forbade and allowed what Allah (
MB & MM ) allowed.
you are requested
to please quote a valid reference for the above 3 items enabling me
to perfect my faith rightly. As a tradition i am also not eating all above
but as a matter of faith i do not consider above 3 items as Harram.
Hope you will not
ignore this as this is very important to me.
Regards
Your brother

Answer:
Prophets evidence for animals with fangs haraam
In the name of Allah, We praise
Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none
can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright.
We bear witness that there is no one (no idol,
no person, no grave, no
prophet, no imam, no dai,
nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that
Muhammad(saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.
Indeed, the Messenger of Allah (saws) commanded on
the believers only what was revealed to him by the One Who is All Knowing, All Wise.
Never did the Messenger of Allah (saws) add or subtract anything from
the deen on his own.
My beloved brother in
Islam, you are absolutely within your
rights as a muslim to demand proof and evidence from the Quran and Sunnah from
anyone who says or thinks something is haraam;
and the person saying it, must
present the proof if he is truthful.
Allah says in the
Holy Quran Chapter 5 Surah Maidah verses 67:O Messenger, convey to the people
whatever has been sent down to you from your Lord. For, if you do not do this,
you will not be doing justice to Allahs Message.
Allah says in the Holy
Quran Chapter 7 Surah Aaraat verse 157:(So,
now mercy has been assigned to those) who follow this Messenger, the Gentile Prophet, whose mention they shall find in the Torah
and the Gospel with them. He enjoins
them to do good and forbids them from evil;
he makes pure things lawful for them and impure things unlawful; he relieves them of their burdens and frees
them from the shackles (of rites and rituals) that bound them. For this reason, those alone who believe in him,
support him, succour him, and follow the Light that has been sent down
with him shall attain true success.
Sahih Al-Bukhari
Hadith 7.672 Narrated by Abu
Thalaba Al Khushani
The Prophet
(saws) forbade the eating of wild
animals having fangs. From
Al-Laith who narrated from Yunus who narrated from Ibn Shihab, who said:
Idris Al-Khaulani told me that Allah's Messenger (saws) forbade the eating of
the flesh of every wild beast having fangs . "
Al-Muwatta
Hadith Hadith 25.13
Yahya related to me
from Malik from Ibn Shibab from Abu Idris al-Khawlani from Abu Tha~laba
al-Khushani that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him
peace, said, "It is haram to eat animals with fangs "
Sahih Al-Bukhari
Hadith 7.435B Narrated by Az Zuhri
The Prophet
prohibited the eating of beasts having fangs.
Sunan of Abu-Dawood
Hadith 4587 Narrated by Al-Miqdam ibn
Ma'dikarib
The Prophet (saws)
said: Beware! I have been given the
Qur'an and something like it, yet the time is coming when a man replete on his
couch will say: Keep to the Qur'an; what
you find in it to be permissible, treat
as permissible; and what you find in it to be prohibited treat as
prohibited. Beware! The domestic
ass, beasts of prey with fangs, a find belonging to confederate,
unless its owner does not want it, are not permissible to you.
Sunan of Abu-Dawood
Hadith 3795 Narrated by Al-Miqdam ibn
Ma'dikarib
The Prophet (saws)
said: Beware, the fanged beast
of prey is not lawful, nor the domestic
asses, nor the find from the property of a man with whom treaty has been
concluded, except that he did not need it. If anyone is a guest of people who
provide no hospitality for him, he is entitled to take from them the equivalent
of the hospitality due to him.
Al-Tirmidhi Hadith
4129 Narrated by Safinah
Referring to the
day of Khaybar, Safinah reported that
Allah's Messenger (saws) declared domestic asses, the flesh of mules,
every beast of prey with a fang,
and every bird with a talon (claws of birds of prey) to be
unlawful.
Whatever written of Truth and
benefit is only due to Allahs Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error
is of me. Allah Alone Knows Best and He
is the Only Source of Strength.
