Answer:

Dua for wudu and Adhan

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Ref: Dua during ‘wudu’

There is absolutely no evidence in the authentic and established Sunnah that other than the declaration of ‘Bismillah’ the Messenger of Allah (saws) would recite any specific dua or supplication at the beginning or during the performance of the ‘wudu’. There is indeed evidence that he (saws) would make one of various supplications to Allah Subhanah after he had finished his ‘wudu’.

The Messenger of Allah (saws) supplicated Allah thus after he had completed his ‘wudu’, : “‘Allah hummaj alnee minat-tawwabeen, waj alnee minal mutah-tahereen’ (O Allah, make me one of those who constantly repents to You, and of those who purify themselves.)”

Abu Saeed Al Khudri narrated that the Messenger of Allah (saws) said: “Whoever makes ‘wudu’ then says upon finishing his ‘wudu’: ‘Subhanaka Allah humma wa bihamdika, ashhadu anlaa ilaaha illa anta, astaghfiruka wa atoobu ilaik’ (Glory be to You O Allah, and all praise belongs to You; I bear witness that there is none worthy of worship except You. I seek Your Forgiveness, and I turn to You), it is written in a parchment, then sealed; and is not opened till the Day of Resurrection.”

Narrated Hadrat Umar ibn Al-Khattab (r.a.) that he heard the Messenger of Allah (saws) say: ‘None of you makes ‘wudu’ and completes the ‘wudu’, then says: “I bear witness that none has the right to be worshipped except Allah Alone, He has no partners; and I bear witness that Mohamed is His slave-servant and His Messenger”, except that all eight Gates of Paradise are opened for him, so he may enter by whichever he pleases.’

Ref: Dua during after the ‘adhaan’

Abdullah ibn Amr narrated that the Messenger of Allah (saws) said, "If you hear the ‘Adhaan’ (call to prayer) repeat after it. Then supplicate for me, for whoever makes one supplication for me, Allah makes ten for him. Then ask Allah to grant me the place of ‘Al-Wasilah’. It is a place in Paradise reserved for a slave from among the slaves of Allah. I hope to be him, and whoever asks Allah to grant me the place of ‘Al-Wasilah’, my intercession becomes permissible for him."

When one hears the ‘muaddhin’ (caller to prayer) declare the ‘adhaan’, it is Sunnah to repeat what the ‘muaddhin’ declares. All the wordings of the ‘adhaan’ are to be repeated verbatim by the hearer except when the ‘muaddhin’ declares ‘Hayya alas Salaah’ and ‘Hayya alal Falaah’, where the hearer should say ‘Laa Hawla wala Kuwata illa billah’ (There is no Power and no Strength except with Allah).

At the completion of the declaration of the ‘adhaan’, the Messenger of Allah (saws) guided the believers to make this supplication for him:

Sahih Al-Bukhari 1.588 Narrated by Jabir bin Abdullah

Allah's Messenger (saws) said, "Whoever after listening to the ‘Adhaan’ says, “Allahumma Rabba hadhihi-d-da' watit-tammati was-salatil qa'imati, ati Muhammadan al-Wasilata wal-Fadilata, wab' athhu Maqaman Mahmudan-il-ladhi wa' adtahu; Innaka la tukhleful meaadh.” will have my intercession made permissible for him on the Day of Judgement.

(O Allah! Lord of this perfect call and of the regular prayer which is going to be established. Kindly give Muhammad (saws) the right of intercession and superiority and bestow upon him (saws) the ‘Maqaam am-Mahmuda’ (a station of Praise and Glory) which You promised him; verily, You never ever go against Your Promises.)

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your brother and well wisher in Islam,

Burhan
