Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,

As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.  (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)

One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:

Assalam-o-Alaikum.

May Allah gives you infinite rewards for your great services.

My questions are :

1. Was the blood of our Prophet Mohammad Salalahu alaih Wasallam pure ? i have read somewhere that on one occasion Prophet Salalahu alaih Wasallam bled and one of the Sahabas (r.a.) licked that part of the Prophet`s body ? If possible ,please do give the details of this incident .

2. Was the urine and other waste material of our Prophet Salalahu alaih Wasallam pure ?

3. Is it true that the Prophet Mohammad Salalahu alaih Wasallam hears our Durood-o-Salam and that whenever we send Durood on him , he hears it and replies to whosoever has sent it ???

Answer:

Is the Prophet’s saws blood pure?

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His  forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one (no idol, no person, no grave, no prophet, no imam, no dai, nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad(saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Your question: Was the blood of our Prophet Mohammad Salalahu alaih Wasallam pure ? i have read somewhere that on one occasion Prophet Salalahu alaih Wasallam bled and one of the Sahabas (r.a.) licked that part of the Prophet`s body ? If possible ,please do give the details of this incident .

The Messenger of Allah (saws) was a human being, and his blood was similar to the blood of other human beings; thus all the laws that apply to the blood of any human being, would apply to the blood of the Messenger of Allah (saws).

I have not come across any such narration in any of the authentic and recognized books of Ahaadiths, where one of the noble companions licked the blood of the Messenger of Allah (saws). Would appreciate if you could give us the reference number of the particular hadith.

Your question: Was the urine and other waste material of our Prophet Salalahu alaih Wasallam pure?

Just as the urine and other waste material of all animate beings is impure, the same laws would apply to the Messenger of Allah (saws). And the biggest evidence of that is everytime the Messenger of Allah (saws) answered the call of nature, he would not pray until he had purified himself by ablution and/or ghusl.

Your question :Is it true that the Prophet Mohammad Salalahu alaih Wasallam hears our Durood-o-Salam and that whenever we send Durood on him , he hears it and replies to whosoever has sent it ???

Abu Hurairah reported that the Prophet (saws) said, "When any Muslim sends greetings to me, Allah returns my soul to me so that I may respond to his greetings."

( Narrated by Abu Daw'ud )

Abu Hurairah reported that the Prophet (saws) said, "Do not turn my grave into a site of festivities, but send greetings to me, for your greetings are raised to me wherever you might be."

(Narrated by Abu Daw'ud

In light of the above authentic narrations, it is indeed true that whenever a believer sends salutations to the Prophet (saws), Allah Subhanah causes the Prophet (saws) to hear and respond to the salutations.

Abdullah bin Amr bin Al-'As reported that he heard the Prophet (saws) saying, "If anyone invokes blessings upon me once, Allah will bestow blessings upon him ten times over." (Narrated by Muslim)

Ibn Mas'ud reported that the Prophet (saws) said, "The people nearest to me on the Day of Judgment will be the ones most conscientious in invoking blessings upon me." (Narrated by Tirmidhi)

Abu Talha Al Ansari said, "The Prophet (saws) woke up one day cheerful and beaming. His companions exclaimed, 'O Prophet of Allah, you woke up today cheerful and beaming.' He (saws) replied, 'Yes! A Messenger of Allah, the Mighty and the Glorified, came to me and said, "If anyone from your ummah sends you a salutation, Allah will record for him ten good deeds, wipe off ten of his sins, and raise him thereby ten degrees in rank, and He will return his salutation with a similar salutation"'

(Narrated by Ahmad)

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your Brother in Islam,

Burhan
