ASSALAMU-ALAIKUM

DEAR BROTHER , WE ALL HAVE HEARD ABOUT THE DEAD SEA  IN JORDAN, I JUST WANT

TO KNOW IS THERE ANY REF IN QURAN & HADEES, AND WHO WAS THE PROPHET AT THAT PERIOD,

(There may be some grammatical and spelling errors in the above statement. The forum does not change anything from questions, comments and statements received from our readers for circulation in confidentiality.)

Answer:

Prophet lut and dead sea

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

The scholars and historians are almost unanimous in their opinion that the twin cities of Sodom and Gomorrah which were located between present day Syria and Jordan were utterly annihilated by the Command and Decree of Allah Subhanah for their crimes of ‘shirk’ and homosexuality. The Glorious Quran as well as the Biblical stories confirm that the Prophet sent to this region was Prophet Lut (a.s.).

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 15 Surah Hijr verses 61-77:

61 At length when the messengers (Angels) arrived among the adherents of (Prophet) Lut

62 He (Prophet Lut (a.s.)) said: "Ye appear to be uncommon folk."

63 They (the Angels) said: "Yea! We have come to thee to accomplish that of which they doubt.

64 We have brought to thee that which is inevitably due, and assuredly we tell the truth.

65 Then travel by night with thy household when a portion of the night (yet remains) and do thou bring up the rear: let no one amongst you look back but pass on whither ye are ordered."

66 And We made known this Decree to him that the last remnants of those (sinners) should be cut off by the morning.

67 The inhabitants of the city came in (mad) joy (at news of the young men).

68 Lut said (to the inhabitants): "These (Angels in the guise of young men) are my guests: disgrace me not:

69 But fear Allah and shame me not."

70 They said: "Did we not forbid thee (to speak) for all and sundry?"

71 He (Prophet Lut (a.s.)) said: "There are my daughters (to marry). If ye must act (so)."

72 Verily by thy life (O Prophet) in their wild intoxication they wander in distraction to and fro.

73 But the (Mighty) Blast overtook them before morning

74 And We turned (the cities) upside down and rained down on them brimstones hard as baked clay.

75 Behold! In this are Signs for those who by tokens do understand.

76 And the (cities were) right on the highroad.

77 Behold! In this is a Sign for those who believe!

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your brother and well wisher in Islam,

Burhan
