AOA. Sir, i pray to Allah(swt) to bestow His blessings on you for the great service you are doing for the Muslim Ummah.

My present question refers to Astrology. A lot of people cosider Astrology as nothing but falsehood and believing in Astrology is often deemed as equivalent to the heinous sin of `Shirk`. I also do not AT ALL believe in the prophecies that are made according to one`s star or zodiac sign but there is one thought that often occurs to me that as Allah (swt) has created a variety of weathers alongwith different climates following a diversity of fruits,trees,etc etc. thus attributing different characteristic to each fruit/tree according to a particular weather. Similarly i think that a person born under his star sign does carry some traits,habits,drawbacks which are peculiar to his zodiac sign. I personally do not believe in the prophecies or predictions or weekly/ monthly horoscopes but I do ,to some extent, believe that one`s star sign does have some ,even though very little, impact on one`s personality since stars too are a creation of Allah Subhannah. I wonder if this too is cosidered as `Shirk` in the sight of Allah. Please give explicit reply since i remain confused about this matter. over to you with kind regards.

Astrology star zodiac signs

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one (no idol, no person, no grave, no prophet, no imam, no dai, nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad(saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

There is absolutely no evidence in the Quran and Sunnah that one carries particular traits, habits, or drawbacks which are peculiar to his zodiac signs or stars. Allah Subhanah has given mankind (and Jinns) two things which He has not given to any amongst His creation: 1. Intelligence or the Power of Reasoning, and 2. A Free Will to choose whatever path he wishes to choose to live his life. A person forms his traits, habits, and character from his knowledge and experience and is not dependant upon his zodiac or star signs! The date of birth of a person has absolutely no bearings on the person’s traits or habits or character.

To believe that a particular star has a bearing on a person’s life would indeed be a part of the heinous sin of ‘shirk’, and the believers who sincerely fear Allah and the Last Day must abstain from such ignorance. Everything, absolutely everything, is in the Sole Control of Allah Subhanah.

Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 3 Surah Ale Imran verses160:If Allah helps you, none can overcome you! And if Allah forsakes you, who is there, then, after Allah that can help you? Therefore, the true believers should trust in Allah Alone.

Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 10 Surah Yunus verses 106-107:And do not call besides Allah, any being that can neither do you any good nor any harm. For if you will do so, you shall be one of the doers of wrong. If Allah afflicts you with a calamity, there is none to remove it, but He Himself. Likewise, if Allah wills to bestow a favor on you, there is none to withhold Allah’s bounty. He bestows His bounty on anyone of His servants He wills. And He is The Forgiving, The Merciful.

Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 31 Surah Luqman verse 34:Verily, the knowledge of the Hour is with Allah Alone. He it is Who sends down the rain, and He Alone knows what is taking shape in the wombs of the mothers. No living being knows what he will earn the next day, nor does any know in what land he is to die! Verily Allah is the All Knowing, Wise.

Sahih Muslim Hadith 133 Narrated by Abu Hurayrah

The Messenger of Allah (saws) said: “Don't you know what your Lord said? Your Lord observed: ‘I (Allah) have never endowed My bondsmen with a favor, but a section amongst them disbelieved it, and said: stars, it was due to the stars.’”

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.
