Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,
As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa
Barakatuh. (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)
One of our brothers/sisters has asked
this question:
Please
explain what type of locusts are halaal as related by this hadith ..narrated by
Umar (r.a) ..that our beloved Prophet may Allahs peace and blessings be upon
him ...once desired toasted locusts.
(There may be some grammatical and spelling
errors in the above statement. The forum does not change anything from

Answer:
Eating of locusts
In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask
for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever
He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that
there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that
Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.
Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith 7.403 Narrated by Ibn Abi Aufa
We participated with the Prophet (saws) in
six or seven Ghazawat (Battles), and we used to eat locusts with him.
Al-Tirmidhi Hadith 4132 Narrated by Abdullah ibn Umar
Allah's Messenger (saws) said, "Two
types of animals which have died a natural death and two types of blood have
been made lawful to us: the two which die a natural death being creatures of
the sea, and the locust; and the two types of blood being the liver and the
spleen."
Related by Ahmad, Ibn Majah and Daraqutni.
In light of the above guidance, the Messenger of Allah
(saws) declared all types of locusts as lawful food for the believers to
consume as food.

Beloved sister, to the best of our knowledge we have not
come across the hadith you have implied where the Messenger of Allah (saws)
desired ‘toasted’ locusts….if you could kindly give us the exact reference of
the hadith, we could give you our comments.
