Another question is
that i hear music on headphones while working. I want to leave this and i tried
but after some days i start hearing music again. There was one solution. i got
audio of The Quran recited in mecca in taraweeh prayer. I kept listening to
that and b`cos of that i also started to learn Quran by heart. This went on
till one of my collegues told me that it is not proper to hear Quran that way
since Allah(SWT) commanded us to listen to it attentively when it is being
recited. Hence he said we cannot hear it while working. The effect is that i
stopped and music came again. Help me out of this pls.

Answer:
Listen to Quran while working
In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help
and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and
whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness
that there is no one (no idol, no person,
no grave, no prophet, no
imam, no dai, nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone,
and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of
His Messengers.

There is absolutely no restriction in Islam if a
believer wishes to work, deal, transact business, employ or be employed with a
Jewish (or any other faith) person or company, provided the work being carried
out in its essence is not amongst the prescribed ‘haraam’ (eg. dealing in wine,
prostitution, gambling, etc.)
The Messenger of Allah (saws) and some of his noble
companions used to deal and transact business with the disbelievers as well as
the Jews and the Christians; thus in its essence there is absolutely no harm or
restriction in Islam regarding dealing or working with people of other faiths.
Providing that the work itself being done by you is
not amongst the prescribed ‘haraam’, there is absolutely no restriction in your
being employed by a Jewish or any other firm.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 7
Surah Aaraaf verse 204:
204 When the Qur'an is read, listen to it with attention and hold your
peace: that ye may receive Mercy.
The Glorious Quran are indeed the very Words of
Allah Subhanah, and without an iota of a doubt, one who sincerely believes in
Allah and the Last Day must honor its recitation and listen to it with
attention so that he may comprehend its wise guidance and commands and strive
to implement them in their lives.
What is absolutely disallowed and should never
happen is that the Quran is being recited, and people are engaged in talking or
conversating amongst themselves without paying any attention to the recitation
of the Glorious Quran.
But if one is driving a car or any vehicle, or if one
is working or doing something monotonous alone, or if one is cooking or going
about their chores alone, etc., and one wishes to listen to the recitation of
the Quran, there is absolutely no harm and it does not violate the guidance of
the Quran.
In your specific case, since the listening of the
recitation of the Quran stopped you from listening to illegal music while going
about your solitary work on the computer, without an iota of a doubt, the
listening of the recitation of the Quran would be a far far better and legal
alternative.
As long as you don’t talk or conversate with others
and pay absolutely no attention to the Quran being recited, there is absolutely
no harm and it would be deemed permissible for you to listen to the recitation
of the Quran while doing your solitary work on the computer.
The difference between listening to music or
listening to the Quran is a question between evil and good, wrong and right, illegal
and legal; but the difference between listening to the Quran with one’s
complete and absolute attention and listening to it while doing some solitary
chore is between doing what is best and doing what is good!
Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due
to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only
Source of Strength.
Your brother and well
wisher in Islam,
Burhan
