was Jesus the son of god? and in what surahs is this issue discussed in the quran?

(There may be some grammatical and spelling errors in the above statement. The forum does not change anything from questions, comments and statements received from our readers for circulation in confidentiality.)

Answer:

Jesus son of GOD

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one (no idol, no person, no grave, no prophet, no imam, no dai, nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Your Question: was Jesus the son of god?

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 112 Surah Ikhlaas verses 1-4:

1 Say: He is Allah the One and Only;

2 Allah, The Eternal Absolute;

3 He begetteth not, nor is He begotten;

4 And there is none like unto Him.

Dear Brother in Islam, one of the Noble Attributes of our Lord Creator is that He is The One and Only, The Eternal Absolute. It does not behove nor befit The Majesty of the Lord that He should have sons, father, mother, or any other relation of kin! He is The Absolute One, Alone, and Only.

If one were to (Allah forbid) associate a son or any other relationship of kin with the Lord Most High, it would be considered an absolute blasphemy and a clear and manifest form of the abomination and unforgivable sin of ‘shirk’ in the Sight of the Majestic Lord.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 4 Surah Nisaa verses 171-172:

171 O people of the Book! Commit no excesses in your religion: nor say of Allah aught but truth. Christ Jesus the son of Mary was (no more than) a Messenger of Allah and His Word which He bestowed on Mary, and a Spirit proceeding from Him: so believe in Allah and His Messengers. Say not "Trinity": desist!: it will be better for you: for Allah is One Allah: Glory be to Him!: (for Exalted is He) above having a son! To Him belong all things in the heavens and on earth. And enough is Allah as a Disposer of affairs.

172 Christ disdaineth not to serve and worship Allah nor do the Angels those nearest (to Allah): those who disdain His worship and are arrogant He will gather them all together unto Himself to (answer).

Allah is our witness brother, neither the Noble Prophet Jesus (a.s.) son of Mary, nor anyone in creation is the son of Allah, the Lord of the Worlds for it does not behove The Majesty of the Lord that He should have a son!

Your Question: and in what surahs is this issue discussed in the quran?

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 3 Surah Ale-Imraan verses 45-48:

45 Behold! The Angels said "O Mary! Allah giveth thee glad tidings of a Word from Him: his name will be Christ Jesus the son of Mary, held in honor in this world and the Hereafter; and of (the company of) those nearest to Allah.

46 He shall speak to the people in childhood and in maturity and he shall be (of the company) of the righteous."

47 She said: "O my Lord! How shall I have a son when no man hath touched me?" He said: "Even so: Allah createth what He willeth; when He hath decreed a plan He but saith to it `Be' and it is!”

48 "And Allah will teach him the Book and Wisdom, the Law and the Gospel.!

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 19 Surah Maryam verses 88-93:

88 They say: "(Allah) Most Gracious has begotten a son!"

89 Indeed ye have put forth a thing most monstrous!

90 At if the skies are ready to burst, the earth to split asunder, and the mountains to fall down in utter ruin.

91 That they should invoke a son for (Allah) Most Gracious!

92 For it is not consonant with the Majesty of (Allah) Most Gracious that He should beget a son.

93 Not one of the beings in the heavens and the earth but must come to (Allah) Most Gracious as a servant.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 2 Surah Baqarah verses 115-116:

115 To Allah belong the East and the West; whithersoever ye turn there is the presence of Allah. For Allah is All-Pervading All-Knowing.

116 They say: "Allah hath begotten a son"; Glory be to Him. Nay! To Him belongs all that is in the heavens and on earth; everything renders worship to Him.

117 To Him is due the primal origin of the heavens and the earth; when He decreeth a matter He saith to it: "Be"; and it is.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 5 Surah Maidah verses 72-73:

72 They do blaspheme who say: "Allah is Christ the son of Mary!” But said Christ: "O children of Israel! Worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord." Whoever joins other gods with Allah, Allah will forbid him the garden and the Fire will be his abode. There will for the wrong-doers be no one to help.

73 They do blaspheme who say: ‘Allah is one of three in a Trinity’: for there is no god except One Allah. If they desist not from their word (of blasphemy) verily a grievous penalty will befall the blasphemers among them.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 5 Surah Maidah verses 17-18:

17 In blasphemy indeed are those that say that Allah is Christ the son of Mary. Say: "Who then hath the least power against Allah if His Will were to destroy Christ the son of Mary, his mother, and all everyone that is on the earth? For to Allah belongeth the dominion of the heavens and the earth and all that is between. He createth what He pleaseth. For Allah hath power over all things."

18 (Both) the Jews and the Christians say: "We are sons of Allah and His beloved." Say: "Why then doth He punish you for your sins? Nay ye are but men of the men He hath created: He forgiveth whom He pleaseth and He punisheth whom He pleaseth: and to Allah belongeth the dominion of the heavens and the earth and all that is between: and unto Him is the final goal (of all)."

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 9 Surah Taubah verse 30:

30 The Jews call Uzair a son of Allah and the Christians call Christ the son of Allah. That is a saying from their mouths!; (in this) they but imitate what the unbelievers of old used to say. Allah's curse be on them: how they are deluded away from the Truth!

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 3 Surah Ale Imraan verses 59-60:

59 The similitude of Jesus before Allah is as that of Adam: He created him (Adam) from dust then said to him: "Be" and he was!

60 The Truth (comes) from Allah Alone; so be not of those who doubt.

Allah is our witness brother, Christ Jesus (a.s.) the son of Mary was no more than a Noble Prophet, Messenger, and a humble slave-servant of Allah, the Lord of the Worlds. It is indeed a manifest blasphemy and a lie to associate this Noble Slave-servant and Messenger of Allah as the ‘son of God’! Any who utters this blasphemy should fear their Lord Creator and be warned that on that Inevitable Day of Judgment, the Noble Christ Jesus (a.s.) son of Mary will be a witness against them!

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 5 Surah Maidah verses 116-118:

116 And behold! (On the Day of Judgment) Allah will say "O Jesus, the son of Mary! Didst thou say unto men `worship me and my mother as gods in derogation of Allah"? He (Jesus) will say: "Glory to Thee! Never could I say what I had no right (to say). Had I said such a thing Thou wouldst indeed have known it. Thou knowest what is in my heart though I know not what is in Thine. For Thou knowest in full all that is hidden.

117 Never said I to them aught except what Thou didst command me to say: ‘to Worship Allah my Lord and your Lord'; and I was a witness over them whilst I dwelt amongst them; when Thou didst take me up, Thou wast the Watcher over them and Thou art a Witness to all things.

118 If Thou dost punish them they are Thy servants: if Thou dost forgive them Thou art the Exalted the Wise.!

If one trusts, obeys, and follows the guidance and commands of Allah and His Messenger (saws), one can be assured of never ever being misled; but if one believes, obeys and follows any other guidance, other than that of Allah and His Messenger (saws), one can be assured of being led astray.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your brother and well wisher in Islam,

Burhan
