Answer:

Car on Installment basis

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one (no idol, no person, no grave, no prophet, no imam, no dai, nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

One should not take the criteria for something being haraam or halaal on whether a muslim country has allowed the act or not. There are many countries ruled by muslims, but allow the sale of alcohol, opening of conventional banks, etc.; but that does not make the act halaal. The criteria for something being halaal or haraam has to be based on what is said by Allah Subhanah and His Messenger (saws). And Allah and His Messenger (saws) have declared the taking and paying of interest haraam or forbidden in Islam.

Instead of taking out a loan to buy a car on installments and thereby paying interest, it would be best for the believer to buy a car which he can afford. This way he would save himself from doing something which is declared haraam by Allah and His Messenger (saws).

But if one thinks or argues that his life will not be able to function, and his livelihood will be affected, and feels that Allah will accept his excuses for taking a car on interest on the Day of Judgment, he may do as he pleases, and take his chances in the Court of Allah. Neither any of the present Islamic Rulers, nor any of the scholars who say such a deed is halaal will be present in the Court of Allah to fight the brother’s case…. Every individual will have to answer for his own deeds on that Inevitable Day!

Allah and His Messenger (saws) have indeed declared the taking and paying of interest haraam for the believers; and anyone who sincerely fears Allah and the Last Day, must abstain from it.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your Brother in Islam,

Burhan
