Answer:
What is najwa?
In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask
for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever
He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that
there is no one (no idol, no person, no
grave, no prophet, no imam, no dai,
nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that
Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.
Allah Says
in the Holy Quran Chapter 58 Surah Mujadila verses 12-13:
12 O ye who believe! When ye (wish to) consult the Messenger in
private, spend something in charity before your ‘Najwa’ (private consultation). That will be best for you and most conducive
to purity (of conduct). But if ye find
not (the wherewithal) Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
13 Is it that ye are afraid of
spending sums in charity before your ‘Najwa’ (private consultation) (with him)?
If then ye do not so and Allah forgives you then, (at least) establish regular
prayer; practice regular charity; and obey Allah and His Messenger: and Allah
is well-acquainted with all that ye do.
Your Question: what is the meaning of OURANIC
CONCEPT"NAJVA"
The meaning of the Arabic and Quranic term and concept of ‘najwa’ means to have a private consultation or a meeting in private with someone.
In the phrase of Surah Mujadila quoted by you in transliteration and translated by us in English the concept and context of the ‘najwa’ is made extremely clear.
Some people (mostly the hypocrites) who thought of themselves as very important and ‘high ranking’ than the normal believers constantly pegged the Messenger of Allah (saws) to give them his exclusive time and teach them the deen! But their real intention was they thought of themselves as higher and better than those poor slaves and destitute people who had actually believed and were constant in seeking knowledge from the Messenger of Allah (saws) wherever and whenever they got an opportunity. These proud hypocrites, although they had embraced Islam outwardly, did not think it was worthy of them to sit and learn the deen with the lowly true believers, and thus requested the Prophet (saws) to give them a private hearing!
The All Knowing, All Wise Lord wanted to expose these hypocrites and their false sense of pride, and thus made it a general command that whoever was genuine in their quest to learn the deen from the Messenger of Allah (saws) in private, must show his sincerity and give something in charity to the poor and the destitute before their ‘najwa’ or private consultation with the Prophet (saws)! The very people whom these hypocrites despised and refused to mingle with, Allah Subhanah commanded them that if they genuinely wished to have a ‘najwa’ or private consultation with the Prophet (saws), they must spend on these poor and destitute believers and thus show their sincerity. Thus did Allah Subhanah expose their evil and false pride, and soon they stopped requesting for private consultations with the Prophet (saws) because just as they hated to learn the deen, they hated to spend in the Cause of Allah on the poor and the destitute amongst the believers! The very next Aayah exposes their true intentions:
13 Is it
that ye are afraid of spending sums in charity before your ‘Najwa’ (private
consultation) (with the Prophet (saws))? If then ye do not so and Allah
forgives you then, (at least) establish regular prayer; practice regular
charity; and obey Allah and His Messenger: and Allah is well-acquainted will
all that ye do.
Some self-declared High Priests amongst the misguided sects in Islam have used this Quranic term ‘najwa’ as a payment due to them, and give the above quoted Aayah 12 of Surah Mujadila as evidence that the Quran commands that their followers pay them something if they wish to meet them! These unscrupulous High Priests have completely misrepresented and misquoted the term ‘najwa’ out of context to further their own coffers and devour the hard-earned wealth of the believers under false pretences! They collect the ‘najwa’ payment unjustly and without any right just like they unjustly demand and collect funds from their followers in various names like the zakaat, the sadaqaat, the khums, the wajebaat, sabeel, etc.! The poor followers have absolutely no knowledge of the meaning of the Quran or its guidance, and believe that they are commanded to pay this ‘najwa’ amount to their high priests by Allah Subhanah, and are ever ready to satisfy the ever-growing greed of their unscrupulous high priests and sect-leaders in the name of Islam! Little do they realize that they are being conned of their hard-earned wealth by these unscrupulous and self-declared high priests in the name of Islam!
Allah Subhanah warns the believers of such unscrupulous priests and holy men, but unfortunately these self-declared priests have made sure that their followers are kept far away from ever understanding the clear guidance and teachings of the Glorious Quran!
Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter
9 Surah Taubah verses 34-35 : O you who believe! There are indeed many among the priests and
the holy men who devour the wealth of others by evil means, and debar the people from the Way of Allah. Give them the good news of a painful
torment, who hoard up gold and silver
and do not expend these in the Way of Allah.
The Day shall surely come when the same gold and silver shall be heated
in the fire of Hell, and with it will be
branded their foreheads, their bodies
and their backs. (And it will be said):
“Here is that treasure you had hoarded up for yourselves! Taste now the evil of your hoarded treasure!”
May Allah Subhanah guide our brethren to read the Holy Quran even only once with understanding, and give them the courage and wisdom to recognize the falsehood propagated by their self-declared high priests and sect leaders in the name of Islam! May Allah Subhanah have mercy upon them and guide them to leave their state of being slaves of their high priests (abde-syedna), rather than becoming Slaves of Allah Subhanah (Abd-Allah)!
If one trusts, obeys, and follows the guidance and commands of Allah and His Messenger (saws), he can be assured of never ever being misled; but if one believes, obeys and follows any other guidance, other than that of Allah and His Messenger (saws), he can be assured of being led astray.
Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.
Your
Brother in Islam,
Burhan
