Bidaa of Shabaan
Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,
As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh. (May Allah's
Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)
One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:
Dear brother
Assalam alaikum
2) A friend told me that on the 14th
night of shabaan we have to read 4 rakaths for bibi Fathima Zahra and also that
one goat has to be sacrificed in the name of huzur(saw) on the day of eid al
zuha.Is it true that sacrifice should not be done in the name of a minor child?
(There
may be some grammatical and spelling errors in the above statement. The forum
does not change anything from questions, comments and statements received from
our readers for circulation in confidentiality.)
Answer:
In the
name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness.
Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray,
none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one (no idol, no
person, no grave, no prophet, no imam,
no dai, nobody!) worthy of
worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad(saws) is His
slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.
Q-1:
A friend told me that on the 14th night of shabaan we have to read 4
rakaths for bibi Fathima Zahra
Beloved
and dear Brother in Islam, the Messenger of Allah (saws), nor his noble
companions, nor even did the noble and chaste Hadrat Fatimah binte Rasool Allah
(r.a.) ever read a special four rakahs for bibi Fatimah Zahra on the night of
the 14th of Shaabaan. And
when the Messenger of Allah (saws) and his noble companions did not specify
this ‘special’ worship, it does not behove the believers to innovate something
that is not in the deen of Islam.
There is
nothing in the authentic Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (saws) that he did
any special type of worship on this night, or celebrated or commemorated the
night of 14th Shaabaan in any particular way.
Q-2:
also that one goat has to be sacrificed in the name of huzur(saw) on the day of
eid al zuha.Is it true that sacrifice should not be done in the name of a minor
child?
Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 22 Surah Hajj verses 26-30:
26 Behold! We gave the site to
Abraham of the (Sacred) House (saying): "Associate not any thing (in
worship) with Me; and sanctify My House for those who compass it round, or
stand up, or bow, or prostrate themselves (therein in prayer).
27 "And proclaim the Pilgrimage among men: they will come to thee
on foot, and (mounted) on every kind of camel lean, on account of journeys
through deep and distant mountain highways;
28 "That they may witness the benefits (provided) for them, and celebrate
the name of Allah through the Days appointed over the cattle which He has
provided for them (for sacrifice): then eat ye thereof and feed the
distressed ones in want.
29 "Then let them complete the rites prescribed for them perform
their vows and (again) circumambulate the Ancient House."
30 Such (is the Pilgrimage): whoever honors the sacred rites of Allah
for him it is good in the sight of his Lord.
Lawful to you (for food in pilgrimage) are cattle except those mentioned
to you (as exceptions): but shun the abomination of idols and shun the word
that is false
The sacrifice
is a rite of worship in Islam, and as with all rites of worship they can only
be performed in the name of Allah Subhanah Alone.
Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 5 Surah Maidah verse 3 (part): Forbidden to you (for food) are: dead meat, blood, the flesh of
swine, and that on which hath been invoked the name of other than Allah.
If any
animal is slaughtered in any name other than in the name of Allah Subhanah,
that food would become prohibited to the believers!
The
sacrifice on the day of ‘Adha’ is to be done neither in the Prophet’s (saws)
name, nor in any child’s name, nor in any other name except the Blessed Name of
Allah Subhanah. If one offers any
sacrifice on any other name other than Allah Subhanah, it will constitute a
clear manifestation of the abomination of ‘shirk’ or associating others with
Allah Subhanah.
Whatever
written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance,
and whatever of error is of me. Allah
Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.
Your Brother in Islam,
Burhan
