Quran or Hadith conflict
Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,
As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa
Barakatuh. (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)
One of our brothers/sisters has asked
this question:
Salaamalaikum,
Dear Mr. Burhan, please tell me whether ones 'aqeedah' be based on Quran only
or on Quran and Hadith both. What should one do if one finds a conflict between an Aayah and Hadith.
Regards,
(There may be some grammatical and spelling

Answer:
Quran or Hadith conflict
In the name of Allah, We praise
Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none
can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright.
We bear witness that there is no one (no idol, no person, no grave, no prophet, no imam,
no dai, nobody!) worthy of
worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad(saws) is His
slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.
Q-1: please tell me whether ones 'aqeedah' be based on Quran only or on Quran and Hadith both.
The ‘Aqeedah’ or articles of
faith from the guidance of Quran and the authentic Sunnah are absolutely identical;
thus regardless if one bases it on the Quran or/and the Sunnah, it would be
absolutely the same.
To believe or conclude that the
‘aqeedah’ or articles of faith from the Quran and the authentic Sunnah of the
Messenger (saws) are not identical, is to conclude that the actions and deeds
of the Messenger of Allah (saws) (Allah forbid) were not in accordance or
consistent with the guidance and commands of the Quran; even the thought of
which is absolutely inconceivable!
Q-2: What should one
do if one finds a conflict between an Aayah and Hadith.
There is not even an iota of
conflict between any authentic hadith of the Messenger of Allah (saws) and any
Aayah of the Glorious Quran! If one
finds even an iota of a conflict between the life of the Messenger of Allah
(saws) and the guidance of the Quran, the chances are the person has either
misunderstood the Ayaah of the Quran and the authentic hadith; or that the
hadith is not authentic.
There is absolutely no conflict
between any Aayah of the Glorious Quran and the authentic hadiths of the
Messenger of Allah (saws).
Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.
Your Brother in Islam,
Burhan
