upon all of you)
One of our
brothers/sisters has asked this question:
I have regularly been following your page and you are indeed doing
a good service to a lot of confused Muslims. I have always been able to
identify with what you write and it strengthens my belief and convictions. With
due apologies, the answer about fundamentalist was not entirely convincing. I
strongly beleive a true fundamentalist is what you
describe, and he follows the dictates of Islam. But the so called
fundamentalist you see these days and who are disliked not only by westerners
but also by good and genuine Muslims(not moderate) are
doing a great disservice to Islam. The course they are following is just
atrocious and is never allowed in Islam. They can be far more succesful in their objectives by love and by appealing to
the intelligence. Wanton destruction of life and property is I am sure not
allowed in Islam. Correct me if I am wrong?

Answer:
In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask
for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever
He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there
is no one (no idol, no person, no grave,
no prophet, no imam, no dai,
nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that
Muhammad(saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.
When the enemies of
Allah Subhanah and His deen of Islam brand the believers as ‘fundamentalists’,
their connotation is towards any true believer who follows the fundamentals of
Islam, who believes in the Quran and the Sunnah in its entirety! This term of ‘fundamentalist’ is something
invented and propagated by the pagans and the enemies of Islam; not a name
chosen by the believers who wish to live their lives within the boundaries laid down by Allah and His Messenger (saws).
According to them, every
believer who adorns a beard is a fundamentalist! Every believing woman who proudly covers
herself in her Islamic attire is a fundamentalist! Every believer who strives
to enjoin the good and forbid the evil is a fundamentalist!
There is absolutely no doubt, and it is absolutely
unacceptable in Islam that a band of zealots get impatient and worked up and
blow a couple of buildings, or indiscriminately kill and murder civilians,
women and children! Such behavior is
absolutely against the teachings and principles of Islam! Not only does it harm the cause of Islam, it
portrays the ‘aggressors’ as the ‘victims’, and the true ‘victims’ as the
‘aggressors’!
Islam has not, will not, and cannot be spread and
propagated by the planting of a few bombs, and the indiscriminate killing of innocent
civilians! The Message of Islam is the
epitome of peace, love, brotherhood, and harmony amongst all creation of the
Creator. Allah has commanded the
believers to invite all mankind in the following manner:
Allah says in the Holy
Quran: Chapter 16, Surah An-Nahl Ayat 125: Invite to the way of your Lord with
wisdom and excellent admonition and argue with people in the best manner. Your
Lord knows best who has gone astray from His Way and who is Rightly
guided.
It might take tens and even hundreds of years of dedicated
work to truly propagate Islam to mankind; but that is the wise command from the
Lord, All Wise, All Knowing! For some zealots this program and plan of
Allah Subhanah seems too long and too tiring; and in their ignorance and their
impatience, they have chosen the path of causing terror and ‘fitnah’ amongst
mankind, which does nothing but hurts the Cause of Islam!
If one only looks at the ‘seerah’
or life of the Last Prophet of Allah (saws), especially his life in the early Meccan period of severe trials and tribulations at the
hands of the disbelievers and enemies of Islam; one would know the example to
follow!
Can one even imagine the plight and state of this great
and noble Messenger of Allah (saws), when he sees in front of his very eyes,
his friend Hadrat Bilaal (r.a.) being mercilessly tortured by the enemy of
Islam, Ummayah ibn Khalaf! Can one even
imagine the plight and state of the Prophet (saws) when Hadrat Ammar bin Yassir
(r.a.) was brutally tortured, and his father Hadrat Yassir (r.a.) and his
mother Hadrat Sumayyah (r.a.) were murdered in front
of his very eyes!
How difficult was it for the Prophet of Allah (saws) to
send someone like Hadrat Ali or Hadrat Umar or Hadrat Hamza (r.a.)
to take care of these cowardly enemies of Allah and Islam? But all he (saws) said to Hadrat Ammar (r.a.) was “Patience O family of Yassir! Patience!
In the trying times which the muslims
find themselves in today, we must, I repeat, MUST follow the Sunnah of the
Messenger of Allah (saws) and use him and his companions as our role models and
examples.
Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 2 Surah
Baqarah verse 153: O ye who believe! Seek help
with patient perseverance, and prayer: for Allah is with those who patiently
persevere.
May Allah Subhanah help the muslim
Ummah, have Mercy on them, guide them, bestow upon them patience and
perseverance, and unite the Ummah in the obedience and worship of the One True
Lord Alone. May the Lord Most Merciful
divert and save the believers from the evil plots of the enemies of Islam, help
us, unite us, and guide us all to the path that is Straight. Ameen.

of error is of me. Allah Alone Knows
Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.
