Splitting the moon miracle
Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,
As Salaam Aleikum wa
Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh. (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be
upon all of you)
One of our
brothers/sisters has asked this question:
Assalam o Alaikum Mr. Burhan
I hope you must be keeping well by the grace of ALLAH.
I have come to know about u via one of my friends & I
thought I shall ask you few questions to clear my doubts.
My First question is whether Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) showed a
MIRACLE to AHL-E-MECCA by dividing / splitting the Moon in 2 Halves after
pointing his Index & Middle Fingers towards the Moon. I read in a Tabloid
when Armstrong became the first Human to step on the Planet he witnessed as if
the Planet has been split in 2 Halves and then rejoined...... to which a
Muslim replied this act was done 1400 years ago by our Prophet Mohammed. IS
THIS TRUE ????
Secondly if a Close RElative of
Someone dies, can we say ALLAH TUMHAIN SABAR DEY GA.....
(Allah shall give you the patience & Stamina to bear this grievance). I
have been told by somebody ONE CANNOT ASK FOR SABAR FROM ALLAH........ AS OUR
PROPHET HAS PROHIBITED US FROM DOING SO.......... Pls. Clarify.

Answer
Splitting the moon miracle
In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask
for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever
He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that
there is no one (no idol, no person, no
grave, no prophet, no imam, no dai,
nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that
Muhammad(saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.
Q-1: whether Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) showed a MIRACLE to AHL-E-MECCA
by dividing / splitting the Moon in 2 Halves after pointing his Index &
Middle Fingers towards the Moon.
Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 54 Surah
Al-Qamar verses 1-2:
1 The Hour (of Judgment) is nigh, and the moon is
cleft asunder!
2 But if they see a Sign, they turn away and say "This is
(but) transient magic."
Allah Subhanah gives a connotation to the splitting of the moon in the Glorious Quran in the Aayah quoted above, and there are several authentic narrations related by many of the Noble Companions of the Prophet, who themselves witnessed this great Miracle of Allah Subhanah at the hands of the Messenger of Allah (saws).
Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith 4.830 Narrated by Abdullah bin Masud
During the lifetime of the Prophet the moon
was split into two parts and on that the Prophet said, "Bear witness (to
this)."
Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith 4.832 Narrated by Ibn Abbas
The moon was split into two parts during the
lifetime of the Prophet.
Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith 5.208 Narrated by Anas
bin Malik
The people of
Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith 6.387 Narrated by Ibn Masud
During the lifetime of Allah's Messenger
(saws) the moon was split into two parts; one part remained over the mountain,
and the other part went beyond the mountain.
On that, the Messenger of Allah (saws) said, "Witness this
miracle."
Q-2: I read in a Tabloid when Armstrong became the first
Human to step on the Planet he witnessed as if the Planet has been split in 2
Halves and then rejoined...... to which a Muslim replied this act was
done 1400 years ago by our Prophet Mohammed. IS THIS TRUE
????
Neil Armstrong was the first man to step on the moon; and Allah Alone Knows Best what he witnessed. But the splitting of the moon in the lifetime of the Prophet (saws), is indeed true according to the various authentic traditions.
Q-3: Secondly if a Close RElative of
Someone dies, can we say ALLAH TUMHAIN SABAR DEY GA..... (Allah shall give you
the patience & Stamina to bear this grievance). I have been told by
somebody ONE CANNOT ASK FOR SABAR FROM ALLAH........ AS OUR PROPHET HAS

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 7 Surah
Aaraaf verse 126:
(The believers said to Pharoah) “But thou dost wreak thy vengeance on us simply
because we believed in the signs of our Lord when they reached us! O Our Lord! Pour out on us patience and constancy, and take
our souls unto thee as Muslims (who bow to thy will)"!
There is absolutely no harm if a believers implores the
Merciful Lord to bestow patience upon himself, or his fellow brothers and sisters in
faith.
There is absolutely nothing in the Quran and Sunnah which
prohibits a believer from asking anything good from the Lord of the
Worlds! You must ask the person who
told you that one cannot ask for ‘sabr’ from Allah
Subhanah, to provide his proof and
evidence from the Quran and Sunnah for his statement. If he is not able to produce it, and in this case he
will definitely not be able to produce it,
his statement should be immediately rejected!
Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.
