Answer:
Does tie symbolize a cross?
In the name of Allah, We praise
Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none
can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright.
We bear witness that there is no one (no idol, no person, no grave, no prophet, no imam,
no dai, nobody!) worthy of
worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad(saws) is His
slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

May Allah Subhanah reward you
with the best of this world and the Hereafter for your kind comments of
encouragement for our humble efforts in the propagation of the Truth. We humbly hope, beg, and pray the
Merciful Lord accepts our humble and
weak efforts, forgives us our
shortcomings, and saves you, us, and all the believers from the torment of
the Hell Fire. Ameen.

The truth of the matter is that
the tie does not symbolize the cross,
nor was it originated by the Christian religion. The concept of wearing the tie probably
originated in the colder countries,
where people tied a piece of cloth around their necks to save themselves
from the bitter cold. In time, this became a part of the dress code of the
people of the colder climates; and
today it has become a normal dress code for the office.
There are some people who
propagate that the tie symbolizes the cross,
but in our humble opinion there is no truth or basis for such a
thought. There is absolutely no harm
wearing a tie, provided the material is
not made of ‘silk’, the wearing of
which is prohibited for the believing males in Islam.

Unfortunately we do not have
this service on our forum, keeping in
mind that our subscribers are in the tens of thousands and from all corners of
the world, Alhamdolillah. But we do know of a telephone service, whereby a scholar is available to answer any
and all questions on Islam in a country called Bahrain. The scholar’s name is Shaikh Hafiz Mohamed
and his mobile number is +973-967 2853.
Please do bear in mind that Bahrain is +3 hours ahead of GMT, and request you to please call this number
on sociable hours. Brother Shaikh Hafiz
is an eminent and God-fearing scholar who has dedicated his life in the
Propagation and service of the deen,
and would be more than honored
to answer any and all questions on Islam for the Pleasure of Allah
Subhanah, Insha Allah.
Whatever written of Truth and
benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error
is of me. Allah Alone Knows Best and He
is the Only Source of Strength.
Your Brother in
Islam,
Burhan
