Answer:
Should one fear death or look
forward?
In the name of Allah, We praise
Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none
can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright.
We bear witness that there is no one (no idol, no person, no grave, no prophet, no imam,
no dai, nobody!) worthy of
worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad(saws) is His
slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.
Your Statement: MAY ALLAH BLESS YOU ALL IN YOUR VENTURE. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.
May Allah Subhanah reward you
with the best of this world and the Hereafter for your kind comments of
encouragement for our humble efforts in the propagation of the Truth. We humbly hope, beg, and pray the
Merciful Lord accepts our humble and
weak efforts, forgives us our
shortcomings, and saves you, us, and all the believers from the torment of
the Hell Fire. Ameen.
Q-1: Should one get scared of death or look
forward for it?
Hadith Qudsi 30
The Messenger of
Allah (saws) said in a Hadith Qudsi that Allah Subhanah, the High and Exalted said: “If My servant
likes to meet Me, I like to meet him;
and if he dislikes to meet Me, I dislike to meet him.”
Upon hearing the
above hadith, Hadrat Aishah (r.a.)
said: “O Prophet of Allah (saws), is it because of the dislike of death, for
all of us dislike death?” The Prophet
(saws) said: “It is not so! But rather
it is that when the believer is given news of Allah's mercy, His approval and
His Paradise, he likes to meet Allah and Allah likes to meet him; but when the unbeliever is given news of Allah's punishment and His
displeasure, he dislikes to meet Allah and Allah dislikes to meet him.”
Allah Subhanah has bestowed a
natural fear of death on every human being;
thus it is only natural that one fears death!
But when one is confronted with
the time and appointment of death, or
feels that it’s time is near due to ill health, old age, natural calamity, etc.;
then the believer, who sincerely
believes in Allah and the Last Day,
must not fear death; but rather
look forward to the promised meeting with His Merciful Lord and Creator.
It is only the disbelievers and
the deniers of Allah and the Last Day,
who will always fear death; no
matter if it is near or far! For they
never believed in the promised meeting with the Lord on an Inevitable Day, and thus they have made no preparations for
that meeting!
Allah Says in the Holy
Quran Chapter 10 Surah Yunus verses 7-8:
7 Those who rest not
their hope on their Meeting with Us, but are pleased and satisfied with the life of the present; and those who heed not Our Signs,
8 Their abode is the
Fire because of the (evil) they earned.
But the True believers, who believed in each and every one of
Allah’s Promises, believed that it was
only a matter of time when they would meet with their Merciful Lord and
Creator; and when they imagined that that time was near, they look forward to their Meeting with
their Merciful Lord as they had prepared for their whole lives for this
Inevitable Meeting!
Allah Says in the Holy
Quran Chapter 29 Surah Ankabut verses 5-7:
5 For those whose hopes
are in the Meeting with Allah (in the Hereafter let them strive);
for the Term (appointed) by Allah is surely coming: and He hears and knows (all
things).
6 And if any strive
(with might and main), they do so for
their own souls: for Allah is free of
all needs from all creation.
7 Those who believe and
work righteous deeds, from them shall
We blot out all evil (that may be) in them,
and We shall reward them according to the best of their deeds.
Whatever written of Truth and
benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error
is of me. Allah Alone Knows Best and He
is the Only Source of Strength.
