Answer:
Duas
In the name of Allah, We praise
Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can
misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We
bear witness that there is no one (no idol, no person, no grave, no
prophet, no imam, no dai,
nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that
Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.
There are many ‘duas’ and
supplications that the believers have made, which have been related by Allah
Subhanah in the Holy Quran. The Messenger of Allah, Mohamed ar-Rasool Allah
(saws) himself used to invoke Allah and supplicate to Him for everything; big
and small. Whatever our needs, we must only supplicate and make ‘dua’ to Allah
Alone, our Lord, Creator and Sustainer.
No one is worthy of our supplication, our dua, our invocation and our
worship, except the One Merciful and Bounteous Lord.
Here are some examples of the
duas as related by Allah in the Holy Quran, which can be used by the believers.
If one is going on an important
mission, we may use the supplication as made by Prophet Moses (a.s.) to Allah.
Chapter 20 Surah Taha
verses 25-28:O my Lord, open my breast for me,
and make my task easy for me.
And remove the impediment from my tongue so that people may understand
my speech.
If in a state of difficulty and misery,
we may use the supplication as made by Prophet Yunus (a.s.) to beg Allah to
help us.
Chapter 21 Surah
Anbiyaa verse 87:There is no god but You.
Glory be to You. I have indeed
done wrong.
If one craves for offspring, we
may use the supplication as made by Prophet Zacharias (a.s.):
Chapter 21 Surah
Anbiyaa verse 89:O my Lord, do not leave me childless, though You Alone are the
best of inheritors.
If one is in a state of
fear, we may use the following
supplication as guided by Allah.
Chapter 3 Surah
Ale-Imraan verse 173:Allah is All-Sufficient for us, for He is the Best
Protector.
If one is ill of health, we may
use the supplication as made by Prophet Ayyub (a.s.):
Chapter 21 Surah
Anbiyaa verse 83:(O my Lord) Truly, distress has seized me, and You are the Most Merciful of all those
who show mercy.
If one wants to be guided
aright, we may use the following supplication as guided by Allah:
Chaper 1 Surah Fatihah
verse 5:(O our Lord) Guide us to the Straight Path (Siraat al Mustaqeem).
There are literally hundreds of
duas and supplications which were made by the Last Messenger of Allah (saws),
and it would require a book if all of them were to be related. The one thing to remember here in all our
supplications is to Praise and Glorify Allah, and show our absolute weakness,
inability, humility, and sub-serviance to our Lord and Creator. Then humbly invoke Him Alone for all our
needs, for Allah Alone is Hearer and Answerer of all our supplications.
Allah says in the Holy
Quran Chapter 2 Surah Baqarah verse 186:And if My servants ask you, O Prophet,
concerning Me, tell them that I am
quite near to them. I hear and answer
the prayer of the suppliant, when he calls on Me. So let them respond to My call and believe in Me. (Convey this to them), perhaps they may be
guided aright!
Allah says in the Holy
Quran Chapter 40 Surah Mumin verse 60:And Your Lord says, “Call upon Me. I will
answer your prayers. Those who disdain
My worship on account of arrogance, shall certainly enter Hell in disgrace!”
The Messenger of
Allah (saws) said in an authentic narration:
“The ‘dua’ is indeed the (essence of) worship”.
The Messenger of
Allah (saws) said (the meaning thereof):
No supplication of the believer is unanswered by Allah Subhanah. One of three
things happen when a believer supplicates his Lord.
Allah may give him
what he has asked for (if it is indeed beneficial to him in this life).
Allah may reserve
the thing for him for the Hereafter (if not beneficial to him in the worldly
life).
Allah will forgive
the sins of the supplicant.
Whatever written of Truth and
benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error
is of me. Allah Alone Knows Best and He
is the Only Source of Strength.
Your brother and well wisher in
Islam,
