Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,

As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.  (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)

One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:

Assalam Allaykum Warahmatullah Wabarakatuhu,

For the last few months I have started witnessing a lot of changes in myself. I am not able to concentrate in my prayers(No Khushu) and more impirtantly I have started missing my prayers. It seems that someone is stopping me from prayers and I am helpless. I am aware that this is Shayateen working on me, but I am not able to come back on track.
I have also become very short-tempered! I have started being disrespectful to my parents and get irritated on very small issues. I am not sure if someone has done spell on me or something. I know people tend to use Haram ways of hurting people due to Jealousy or any personal reasons and that is what I fear is happening with me. I am really getting tensed and get angry very frequently.

Kindly let me know if there is any way to know if I am suffering from a spell or anything and what do I read--according to Quran and the Sunnah, to get cured.

JazakaAllahu Khair

WaAssalam Allaykum Warhamtullah

Answer:

Cure for magic

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one (no idol, no person, no grave, no prophet, no imam, no dai, nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Your Question: Kindly let me know if there is any way to know if I am suffering from a spell or anything and what do I read--according to Quran and the Sunnah, to get cured.

It is indeed unfortunate that whenever some affliction befalls someone which might be due to any number of reasons, and simply because one is unable to comprehend the reason, they automatically assume that someone has invoked some magic or evil spell upon them! And although Islam guides that magic does exist, it does not mean that anyone and everyone can hurt or harm anyone of their choice by these methods if and when they will and please! Everything, absolutely everything in this Universe happens with the Will and Permission of Allah Subhanah Alone, and none has the power to harm or benefit anyone without His Precise Will and Permission. Thus one should not keep their trust on magic or the effects of evil-eyes, but rather the believers should keep their full trust and faith in the Power and Strength of none save their Lord and Creator, Allah Subhanah Alone.

Allah Says in His Holy Quran Chapter 35 Surah Fatir verse 2:

2 What Allah out of His Mercy doth bestow on mankind there is none can withhold: what He doth withhold there is none can grant apart from Him: and He is the Exalted in Power Full of Wisdom.

My dear and beloved brother in Islam, know and believe with absolute and total conviction that if all the jinns and all of mankind were to get together and try to harm you in the unseen, they would not be able to do so in the least without the Precise Will and Permission of the Lord Most High! Everything, absolutely everything in the Universe happens with the Will and Permission of none save Allah Subhanah, the Lord of the Worlds.

Al-Tirmidhi Hadith 1019 Narrated by Abu Sa'id al-Khudri

The Prophet (saws) used to seek protection against the Jinn and the evil eye till Surahs al-Falaq and an-Naas were revealed. After they were revealed, he (saws) stuck to them and discarded everything beside them.

If one fears any evil from any quarter whatsoever, one should recite the Muawwidaat (113th Surah Al-Falaq and 114th Surah An-Naas) thus seeking refuge in the One and Only Lord Most High. Allah is our witness brother, there is no other or better source of refuge or protection than in Allah Subhanah, the Lord of the Worlds. After one has recited the Muawwidaat and remained constant in its recitation, one should know and believe with absolute conviction that they are under the refuge and protection of none other than Allah Subhanah The Lord the Worlds; and no amount or combinations of Jinns, or magic doers, or evil-eyes, or spells, or charms or any harm from the unseen can come towards them from any quarter!

Beloved brother, in light of the guidance of the Quran and the Sunnah we absolutely assure you that your negligence or non-concentration in your prayers, or your temper, or your anger, etc. has absolutely nothing, and we reiterate, absolutely nothing to do with some magic, or spell, or charm, etc. done on you! Beloved brother, more than likely it may be that the superb temptations and trials of this world might have temporarily distracted you from the Remembrance of your Lord and the Last Day…and the evil and accursed Shaytaan, who is ever ready to pounce upon the believing slaves of Allah at the first given opportunity, might have taken this opportunity to despair you from the Remembrance and the Mercy of your Lord Most Merciful.

Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith 3.254 Narrated by Safiya, the Prophets (saws) wife

The Prophet (saws) said, "The accursed Shaytaan circulates in the human being as blood circulates in the body!”

Dear and beloved brother, the only way to mitigate and defeat the evil ploys of the accursed Shaytaan, is to turn back to your Lord Most Merciful in sincere repentance for your lapse and strive to engage yourself in the constant Remembrance and obedience of your Lord Most Gracious….it is expected you will find your Lord Forgiving and Merciful.

If one trusts, obeys, and follows the guidance and commands of Allah and His Messenger (saws), one can be assured of never ever being misled; but if one believes, obeys and follows any other guidance, other than that of Allah and His Messenger (saws), one can be assured of being led astray.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your brother and well wisher in Islam,

Burhan
