Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,
As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh. (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)
One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:
I GOT MARRIED TWO YEARS BEFORE AND ALHAMDULILLAH HAVING A SON.MY HUSBAND IS STILL STUDYING AND INSHALLAH WILL COMPLETE HIS STUDIES AFTER A YEAR.MY IN-LAWS ARE NOT BEHAVING PROPERLY WITH MY HUSBAND AS HE IS STILL NOT EARNING THOUGH HE IS HAVING A WIFE AND SON.THEY ARE ALL THE TIME TAUNTING AND NAGGING HIM ON THIS MATTER AND ASKING HIM TO LEAVE ME AND STAY WITH THEM.THEY ARE SAYING HIM THAT THEY CAN TAKE CARE OF MY SON AND THERE IS NO NEED FOR HIS WIFE TO BE WITH HIM.THEY ARE ALL THE TIME TRYING TO MAKE BOTH OF US FIGHT WITH EACH OTHER.THEY ALWAYS TELL HIM TO STAY AWAY FROM ME. I KNOW MY HUSBAND,HE LOVES ME VERY MUCH AND HE CANT BE AWAY FROM ME FOR A SINGLE DAY.I ASKED MY HUSBAND ALSO HE IS NOT READY TO BE AWAY FROM ME.HE IS ASKING ME TO LEAVE THIS HOUSE AS SOON AS HE COMPLETES HIS STUDIES AS THIS HOME IS NOT SAFE FOR OUR RELATIONSHIP.SO I WANT TO ASK YOU THAT IF I GO WITH MY HUSBAND AND SON,WILL IT BE LIKE MAKING HIM AMD HIS PARENTS AWAY FROM EACH OTHER?WILL IT BE CONSIDERED AS GUNNAH?PLEASE REPLY ME SOON.IAM IN GREAT CONFUSION HERE.
THANK YOU ALLAH HAFIZ

Wife & family issues
In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one (no idol, no person, no grave, no prophet, no imam, no dai, nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.
Your Question: SO I WANT TO ASK YOU THAT IF I GO WITH MY HUSBAND AND SON,WILL IT BE LIKE MAKING HIM AMD HIS PARENTS AWAY FROM EACH OTHER?WILL IT BE CONSIDERED AS GUNNAH?
One of the rights of the wife in a marriage is that if she wishes to be housed separately from her in-laws, she is well within her rights to ask her husband to provide a separate housing for her and her children; and if the husband can afford it, he must fulfill this lawful right of his wife.
Thus my beloved sister, there is absolutely no harm and no sin upon you if for whatever reason you might wish to exercise your right to live separate from your husbands family.
But the wife in Islam does not have the right to demand that the husband leave his parents and come and live with her and her children. It is the husbands responsibility to fulfill his due rights towards his parents without diminishing his rights due to his wife and children. If he wills to live with his parents and serve them he may do so; and if he wills to live with his wife, he would still have to fulfill his duty and responsibility towards his parents in full and strive his utmost to serve them in humility and in kindness at all times.
Your Question: WILL IT BE CONSIDERED AS GUNNAH?
If the wife guides and reminds her husband to be dutiful towards his parents, she will have a share in the rewards of her husband for being dutiful towards his parents; but if the wife demands and coerces her husband to leave his parents, and strives and guides her husband to be undutiful towards his parents, she will share a burden of the sin of her husband if he is undutiful towards his parents.
Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allahs Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.
Your brother and well wisher in Islam,
