Dear Brothers & Sisters,

One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:
Is it permissible for people living outside Palestine to travel there to pray in al-Masjid al-Aqsa?
(There may be some grammatical and spelling errors in the above statement. The forum does not change anything from questions, comments and statements received from our readers for circulation in confidentiality.)

Answer:

Praise be to Allaah.

Visiting al-Masjid al-Aqsa and praying there is Sunnah when it is possible to do so, because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “No journeys should be made specifically to visit any mosque except three: al-Masjid al-Haraam [in Makkah], this mosque of mine [in Madeenah] and al-Masjid al-Aqsa [in al-Quds/Jerusalem].” (Saheeh – agreed upon). And Allaah is the Source of help.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah's Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.
